This was a while back. My sister had a friend who worked there so we went to visit her. We decided to order something to try it out and my sister ordered this wild berry smoothie. She didn’t like it. Well, days go by and one day we decided to go get something from here and she asked if they had a raspberry smoothie. They told her yes, but while we were waiting for our order, I heard the worker tell the owner “we don’t have raspberries.” Instead of telling us that they didn’t have them, they went and added a berry mix. When my sister got it, it looked exactly like the wild berry smoothie she had tried (which she didn’t like) and when we told the owner about it, she looked at me and said “it’s raspberry.” A raspberry smoothie should be some sort of red color, not a deep purple. I might have believed her if my sister hadn’t tried it before. I’m sure you don’t forget the taste of something you’ve tried before and didn’t like. Anyway, the owner was set on telling us this was raspberry after what I heard her worker tell her. My sister’s friend also told her that they didn’t have raspberries just the mix. The owner didn’t admit to her mistake and I felt disrespected and offended that she would rather lie to my face than admit her mistake. It’s such a shame because besides the lack of the owner’s integrity to her customer, it was a cute little place.

I dropped into a Yin Yoga class without expectations, it was very relaxing, I almost nodded off. But it was what I need, the drop price was very reasonable, and I’m excited to try the other classes! I will update as I go!

Today, I celebrate my 1-year anniversary attending creACTive Wellness and I love it here! I attend yoga 2-3 times a week and I can truly say that I feel my best self. I've done trapeze and beginners. The hardest part of doing yoga is showing up. CreACTive has really helped me find my community.

*Edit to add: unbeknownst to me, they charge a surcharge. Would have been nice to know that.First impressions are important to me. It makes me anxious to try something different and today I was forced to venture out because my normal massage therapist couldn’t get me in this week and I was having some pretty bad upper back/neck tightness. I called around locally and this place got me in today! Great! I’ve been wanting to see what it’s about as I’ve driven by many times. When I walked in there were two tables with about 3 people at each (I assumed patrons), I stood there for what felt like an eternity as both tables just stared at me until I spoke up and mentioned I was there for a massage. One of the girls jumped up and excitedly said I was there for her. Cortney. She was nice, but I was very nervous and kind of annoyed at the lack of welcome. She led me down a tiny stair case which was cute, but I’m 6’ tall and fluffy and this was embarrassing and uncomfortable as I felt the stairs might not be able to support my body. I would much rather have exited the building through the front and walked around to the bottom floor entry. The room was warm which was nice on this cool day, but the b&bw candle burning left me with a headache- I can’t do strong fragrances and I’m used to massage rooms having a light fragrance like essential oils. Cortney was very nice, I explained my problem area being my upper back and she spent quite a bit of time on my upper back, but was very light touched. She asked at one point when it was firmer if it was ok and I agreed but then it was back to light again. My usual guy also would have done some neck stretches with massage and subocciptal release since that’s the area bothering me, but it was more Swedish rather than deep tissue today. Normally I wouldn’t have minded as much but I felt like I was pretty specific in needing at least my upper back being more of a productive massage. When I was ready to leave (up the tiny stair case ) Cortney was sitting at the table again and made small talk as I stood at the register then after a few minutes stated that she would cash me out unless I wanted to buy something from the cafe. I felt stupid for standing there expecting to pay at what felt like the obvious area, as if I was supposed to just know. I paid and expected to sign and be able to tip on my card, but neither was offered. Fortunately I had some cash on me, but I would rather have put it on the card. Not really my vibe, didn’t feel most comfortable there. I gave an extra star because after she realized I was her client, Cortney was pleasant.

I enjoyed my beginners yoga class this morning with Cortney. After, I grabbed a turkey and cheese sandwich on a croissant with a cup of cauliflower and leek soup for lunch. Everything was yummy!!
