I ate here a few years ago. It was amazing then. This time the hamburger patties seem to be pre-made frozen Walmart patties. The old lady behind the counter seemed like she rather be watching The Prize is Right then taking an order.

Food was great
The smell of sewage & dirty looking tables stopped up from going to the window where a very elderly woman was taking the orders. My appetite ended. Our family of 6 turned around and left. No way!! with the eating area dirty that the kitchen had to be the same.
Very disappointed.

The good: the food was great. The hamburgers fresh and tasty. The fries were fresh cut and handmade to order. The onion rings and fried okra was also very good. the bad: the tables were dirty, there were flys and it was warm with the 2 window shakers on. Overall great for to go orders, probably would not eat in again.

Standard BBQ joint, dressed up with Southern Christian decorations and poured urethane tabletops that are eternally sticky in Alabama heat. Good food with average portions.

The best hamburger and fries I have ever eaten, the hamburger was so big and juicy and the fries were just the way I love them. I will only eat here now.

I ordered a double cheeseburger and fries to go, steamed rolled out of the styrofoam container of the fries, which I knew wasn’t normal! The burgers were pre made patties, tasted ok but lacking.
The fries were limp wristed (undercooked), and soggy with a greasy layer at the bottom of the container. I finished the burger and attempted to finish the fries but , just couldn’t. Extremely disappointed.

Been coming here for years. Today it took 30 minutes and was not busy. Redneck taco chicken came out with ground chicken and instead of slaw was made with lettuce and tomato like a salad. Burger was good.

This is one of those local places that people rave about but those same people have never left town. The ordering experience was laughable as an elderly woman who couldn’t hear us took our order and moved slower than molasses. The food was mediocre at best. Canned baked beans, tiny ribs, bland everything. The service is nonexistent as after we were called to get our food I was told that my bread wasn’t ready yet and it would be up soon, but the same person that told me that literally walked by our table and said my bread was ready-if it was ready why didn’t she just bring it to me? I walked up to get my bread and there wasn’t any employees to be found. Mind you, this was 6pm on a Saturday night. Save your money and time and come to Hook’s in Opp for good BBQ.
