Wow!... Great coffee and the best ever 'coffee cake' made fresh daily and warmed! (apparently the owners' mother's recipe). It was so good we got a 2nd piece!!

Delicious coffee, sweetest customer service, & most charming atmosphere. A must for a morning wingman!!! (Stole that sweet sentiment from their adorable cups!)
We tried the loop de loop latte, dirty chai, & a kids chocolate milk

There are places in the South that don’t announce themselves with trumpets or flashing signs, places that don’t need to, because they were always meant to be found—not by the hurried, but by the ones who know how to listen. Hi-Plane Coffee Company is one such place. You don’t stumble upon it, not really. You arrive, whether for the first time or the fiftieth, drawn in not by accident but by something older and quieter—habit, need, or grace.

It sits there in Athens like it’s always belonged—tucked against the rust and rumble of roads long driven and mornings long gone, a clean place in a world that’s grown too noisy to be gentle. And yet here, the world hushes. Here, the steam rises slow and golden, and the people behind the bar wear the look of folks who believe in what they’re doing—not just pulling shots but serving mornings, restoring rhythm, handing you your name back in a cup that fits your hand just so.

I came in on a rain-washed Tuesday, the kind of day where memory clings to your coat and the air smells like it might turn back into yesterday. The woodgrain glowed, the windows softened the gray outside, and someone was laughing, not loudly, but with the kind of ease that makes you remember your grandmother’s kitchen, your best friend’s front porch, or your first breath after a hard decision.

The coffee—Lord, the coffee—was not an afterthought. It was not scorched or rushed or buried under syrup to disguise a sin. It was balanced, honest, warm with intention. I had a cortado, served in glass like something sacred, and I remembered how stillness tastes. It was coffee that remembers the seed, the soil, the hand, and the care. Coffee that tells a story without shouting.

And they sell more than just beans and cups—they sell presence. Vinyl spinning quietly in the corner. Local art clinging to the brick like ivy. Baristas who remember what you ordered last week and ask how your mama’s doing without needing to be told she was sick. It’s a place for writers and workers, for loners with journals and loud friends with guitars. It’s for the early riser and the bruised soul. It’s for anyone willing to sit still long enough to feel alive again.

In a world that worships speed, Hi-Plane Coffee holds the line for quality. For community. For the kind of morning that starts not with a scream, but with a soft “Good to see you again.”

So come. Come tired, come curious, come needing nothing but a place to begin. Come and drink something real. And maybe, just maybe, you'll remember how to be human again.

I am from Cali, stopped by this place, last year. Fell in love with their Coffee bread. Currently pregnant, craving it, trying to figure out how to get it sent to me! Best coffee bread I've ever tasted.

Walked in for the first time and the lady making coffee was sooo sweet and lovely. But their coffee is terrible, it tasted burnt. Ordered some truffles which were extremely expensive and lacked flavor. Wasn’t impressed at all with any of them. Got some butter pickles and mustard bbq sauce, it was okay. I think the looks are there but quality is not.

What a cool little place, nestled in What can only be described as a general store in downtown Athens Alabama, this place has something for all but this is about the coffee company and I have to say, It was pretty delicious, I had a cold brew drip coffee and it was magnificent, would definitely recommend coming to this place and checking this out.

A very cute coffee stand in an even cuter mercantile store! The lady taking our order was super helpful & provided great recommendation's. There was only one girl making the orders so I would say to visit when you’re not in a rush. Other than that, it was a great experience & we will for sure be back the next time we are in Athens!

Best coffee shop in Athens hands down! And the new shaken espresso on the menu is a 10/10. I can’t wait for their new location.
