Absolutely ridiculous that we had to automatically pay for tip because it was a special deal day. Like if you can’t afford to do special deals then don’t, why rip off guests?! It makes sense for large parties to be charged gratuity and many restaurants do that but we were a party of 3. We got no service and our water cup was completely empty and they want a tip?!! Also, the last time we were there they chased us down for a bigger tip. Talk about insanity!! The food here is decent so decided to come back again but the hunger for extra money is disgusting!

First time visitor. Dropped in for a quick sushi lunch. Sushi is definitely solid quality (I travel a lot to California, so that's my standard), and service was attentive.
I will be back as the rest of the menu looks inviting!

Rich, savory, and deeply comforting the tonkotsu ramen here is top notch. The broth is creamy and flavorful, the noodles are perfectly chewy, and the pork melts in your mouth. A mus try for any ramen lover!.

Genuinely one of my favorite restaurants in Auburn and have enjoyed at least 30 meals here! All of their fish is incredibly fresh (bent creek roll is my favorite and their tuna in general). The Umami Cham Ppon red is packed with flavor and another favorite! 10/10 recommend supporting this place!! + they have deals Wednesday-Friday!

Rarely write a negative review on a place but was very disappointed with the food at Umami last night. Went out to celebrate my baby sister for her birthday and they got curry ramen, Korean chicken wings (best thing we had), fried rice and pad Thai (my own mistake for ordering Thai at anywhere else but a Thai restaurant). The sushi was good but it’s really hard to mess up sushi. Edamame was over cooked. Good service but just was very underwhelmed by the food. No one was impressed by the flavors minus the chicken wings.
Came in for lunch on Valentine’s Day 2025, ordered the crispy spring rolls, crunchy California roll, spicy tuna roll, tonkotsu ramen and Seattle teriyaki chicken. The teriyaki chicken was not appetizing at all. It lacked flavor and the quality of the chicken was just not good, very disappointing dish. The ramen was flavorful but lacked on the meat portion. The other items were good no complaints. However, I would not willing to give them a try again.

Arrived at 5:30 on a Tuesday. We ordered a glass of wine each, edemame, 2 rolls each ( 2 with soy paper). Wine came out immediately. After 10 minutes still no edemame. Then waitress delivered the 2 rolls that were supposed to be made with soy paper, but they were made with seaweed. We explained to waitress that we ordered soy paper. She came back a few minutes uses later and said they were out of soy paper. So I stead of letting g us know they didn't have soy paper, they just made the rolls with seaweed. At this point we're easily 15 minutes waiting, still no edemame and we are almost done with our wine. I ask the waitress to cancel.out order and we'll just pay for the 2 glasses of wine. My wife leaves and goes next door to another sushi place and I wait for the check. 5 minutes later, the waitress shows up with the edemame (25 minutes after we ordered it). I had to explain how I had canceled my order and just wanted to pay for the drinks. Finally got the check, and paid. Went next door to have dinner with my wife at another restuarant that didn't take forever, and didn't mess up the order.

I sometimes patronize this place with coworkers after work. Every time I visit, I am disappointed by the lack of prompt and courteous service by both wait staff and owners. I have to get up and walk around to flag down a waiter to order more food or drinks. Portion sizes for dishes seemed to be on the smaller size (for the money spent). This time around, we found the server (young asian female) to be extremely rude and incompetent - let out sighs and walks away after taking a request or order. Dear owners, do better and maybe train your servers or pay them better(or let them take tip as pay).
