Catalina Ice Cream Shop

Don't visit if you're in a hurry. 15.00 for 2 milkshakes, the only reason I didn't leave was because they took my money before making the milkshakes.... one hour later we got the milkshakes. Seriously!

Extremely unprofessional experience. I called to ask if the manager was available and the employee responded with, “ yeah why?” which was unnecessary because it’s none of your business. I then asked to speak with the manager, but the employee went silent and never responded. I eventually hung up the phone, completely unacceptable customer service.

We are staying on Dauphin Island but heard this restaurant is very good. We took a little drive to try it out. Definitely glad we did. Worth the quick drive from the island. We had 3 kids and 4 adults. The kids had cheeseburgers and fries. The adults had fantail shrimp, shrimp po boys and chicken tenders. The shrimp was fantastic! My sister said the chicken tenders were so good. Not frozen ones. 😄 The staff was very friendly and took care of us. The decorations and environment is welcoming and fun to look at. We will definitely be back.

Don’t pass this ice cream shop by. OMG how good the ice cream is!

They were out of several items. The cashier/server girl was very rude. Also note, cash only.

This was our second visit. The first time, we just got ice cream in a cup and it was fine. This time, we decided to try the milkshakes—and unfortunately, we won’t be back. We paid over $13 for two milkshakes that were thin and watery. When we pointed it out, the girl just looked at it and said, “Yeah,” with no offer to fix it. They were also out of whipped cream but didn’t mention it until after we ordered. The staff—mostly young girls—seemed unsure of what they were doing and not very engaged. Overall, disappointing experience.

Fantastic place to eat. Crab cakes are the best by far and the service is great.

We were at the restaurant next door and the the waitress recommended the ice cream shop for dessert. We stopped over but it was closed - well the manager next door came over, opened up and got us our ice cream - wow - that's service- my banana pudding ice cream was better than Blue Bel's - thank for taking care of us.

Cool retro style decor and music makes you feel like you are traveling back in time.
Strawberry and deep dish apple pie flavor ice cream was super delicious, scoops are huge....really enjoyed this place and will be back...

wonderful tradional Bayou food.

I love Catalina Ice cream but just not today, I was craving for banana split and decided to drive there before they close today, we saw there was a party going on, the cashier was open for walk in customers, the girl took my order and I noticed they were distracted while preparing for my order, she handed to me the banana split without the banana in it and I told her, she said sorry and she sliced the banana and just put it on top that all the cherry sauce and ice cream were overflowing. The cherry on top even fell but she just tried to avoid not looking at me after giving it, the whip cream was falling too we left with the overflowing ice cream and sauce on our hands, it was very messy. We just surround it with tissue paper to prevent from spilling more in the car. Just not happy with it as she was not even feeling sorrry at all.

I tried to understand that the employees are teenagers but I just hope they get trained with the proper SOP.

We stopped in after looking for an ice cream place while on vacation. I will say it is a must stop place. It's a cute little place with and old time feel. The ice cream was amazing. I got a scoop of banana pudding and it tasted just like the real think. My son got a milk shake and the other got 2 scoops. All was amazing and worth the little drive to try.

The food was absolutely delicious! The owner and staff were so friendly! We will definitely be back! I didn’t take any pictures of the food because we ate it too fast! The Hurricane shrimp appetizer was really good! We got fantail shrimp, oysters, catfish and one burger. Everyone really enjoyed their food!

We enjoyed our stop, ice cream was good, friendly employees.
