Bistro on 19th might as well have been Bistro on Elm Street — because it truly was a nightmare.
I don’t enjoy leaving reviews like this, but our experience left much to be desired. It was clear the restaurant was understaffed, and while that’s understandable, how we were treated by our server, Nicole, was not.
From the moment we were seated, every basic request — water, champagne, food — was met with visible frustration and unnecessary attitude. It felt as though we were inconveniencing her by simply being there.
Thankfully, there was one bright spot: Ms. Kat. Though she was the hostess, she wore many hats — greeting guests, running food, assisting with drinks, and doing it all with genuine kindness and grace. Her attentiveness and positive energy singlehandedly salvaged what could have been a completely negative experience. She is the reason we didn’t walk out.
If this restaurant wants to retain guests, they’d do well to hire (and retain) more Kats — and revisit how hospitality is being handled on the floor.

Unfortunately I was there for a funeral also unfortunately my wife had to serve food with several other relatives due to short staff food was bland and we ran out once we were through 2/3 of our family so the other third did not eat very basic bread was hard drinks were expensive and served separately per your purchase not giving with food at a time when people were grieving and needed support very little was given and also the fact that we had to clean up behind ourselves in the public facility also done by the people that were serving including my wife It was apparent that the vegetables came out of a can along with the fact that the chicken was portioned and brought out and spurts to appear to have enough and still completely ran out at the end
Parking: Being next to the sheriff's department Which made it difficult for people to find parking near the entrance

Very rude servers could not get helped and when I did I i was attacked for answering another customer question very rude to disabled white people and dasher were told to confirm pick up and then they refused to give order to dashers in all this place is a very bad place for white people to go

The dish I enjoyed the most was the chicken and waffles....The shrimp and grits looked amazing but the taste did not equal it's appearance..I was expecting it to taste less fishy and I didn't enjoy the stewed tomatoes ..the dish tasted overall bland. I think I prefer sausage...flavor . My Mom enjoyed her meal Salisbury steak mashed potatoes and greens. The beverage.. their Arnold Palmer is very good. My family and I also really enjoyed the live music....Our to go orders the Lamp chops & Ribeye were both very good. I do plan to visit again.

Let’s talk about this gem on 19th Street in Bessemer. As a native of Bessemer, I’m ashamed that today is my first time visiting this establishment. What a pleasant experience! The food, music, and ambiance was refreshing, particularly in my hometown. I will definitely be back. This review was not prompted or enticed. I just felt compelled to share my enjoyable experience.
