The mac n cheese and the greens were great! But the whole wings were bland and nasty like they didn’t season them at all! Cornbread was terrible.

I went this Restaurant for the first time for my Niece's graduation lunch Chef Msy did not disappoint us the food was off the chain it was so good we went back the following Sunday Chef May cares about her customers I just luv the Lady she is very personable very nice Person

Wed 2-23-2022 Chef May and her wonderful team from The Homestyle Kitchen catered to my Job PackHealth and it was amazing from the salad down to the Home squeezed lemonade and every dish of food in between. They were a very kind and generous staff

My dad, nephews, and I decided to drop in for lunch while in Bessemer Thursday and I must say that hands down this is the best cooking and customer service I have had in a very long time! The atmosphere is the bomb and we felt right at home! Chef Julia May personally came to introduce herself and insure we were enjoying ourselves! Her awesomeness encouraged me and she even talked to my nephews about their future goals! EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE WAS AMAZING! We will most definitely be back very soon and we recommend that you stop in and enjoy as well ? 49 minutes from home and I’m willing to make that drive anytime ??

I messaged the business this morning (Sunday 11/07) to see if they would be serving chitterlings today. The business replied back and stated yes and to call when they open as they sell out fast. I called at 11 right when they opened and the lady said they didn't have any. We were already outside the business when I called so we decided to just order something else. The lady stated it would be 15mins. My boyfriend went in at 15mins and it was an additional 37min wait. Someone came in while he was waiting and order chitterlings and they sold her some so my boyfriend went back up to the counter and asked about it. The lady went to the back and stated they had 1 plate left. My boyfriend continued to wait for our order...the lady came back and stated they were out of mac....again we called in our order right at 11am when they opened....so we exchanged our sides.....next...she comes back and states they don't have enough chitterlings for a full order so here is $10 back. So.....we're these left over chitterlings. Why would you open at 11am when your not ready to serve your customers with the items on the menu. I know it's hard times right now but this was just ridiculous....first and last time coming to this establishment. I hope others have a better experience.

Too some out of towner it was a restaurant that we found on the internet. But it turned into one of the nicest homecooked meal that we all needed. You can tell she cooked everything with love. Cant wait to come back love ya.

Fantastic soul food, a very welcoming & sincere staff, and a hard-working, personable chef make this a must-visit (often) dining option in the city. All the greats mom used to make, but without the responsibility of doing the dishes afterwards. Chef Julia May puts heart and of course *soul* into every dish and it's evident. Absolutely worth the travel. ?
