Save your money and go elsewhere! I had lunch there today with high hopes based on the others reviews. I was surprised at how bad the food was. I had meatloaf, creamed potatoes, greens, black eyed peas and cornbread ($17). The meatloaf and cornbread were both good. The potatoes are instant and have some weird off putting taste, not typical of instant potatoes. The greens had no seasoning and were bland, there was no meat in them either. Worst potatoes and greens I have ever had in my life. The black eyed peas were either canned or frozen and also had no seasoning. When walking into the restaurant no one greets you and it’s just a “weird” atmosphere in there. Not very clean. Just Fyi: Originally from NC and I know soul food. I search out soul food restaurants in the South when traveling.

They were only offering takeout when we arrived for Sunday lunch, so we enjoyed our food in a nearby park.Pork chop, fried chicken, green beans, peas, corn, sweet potatoes, cornbread -- everything was good.

I thought their fried chicken was GOOD but the baked chicken is even BETTER !! Who ever cook that baked chicken today it was season through and through!! GREAT JOB!!!

Saw this place had good reviews and wanted to see for myself. Happy I did. Got a pork chop, Mac and cheese, yams and cornbread to go. When I got home I took one bite of each and did a little dance. Damn… everything was good. Will go back again and highly recommend this restaurant.

First time here but my sister and brother always eat here. I was advised that everything was good. Sunday afternoon, wasn't very crowded at all but it was a holiday weakened so this may be why. There appeared to be plenty of food on the steam table, however there were not a lot of selections. I picked up several to go plates which included the same vegetables collard greens and candied yams, ox tails and fried chicken. the cornbread was "hotwater cornbread" and was pretty good. The oxtails were absolutely delicious and they gave a nice helping. the yams were also excellent. a meat and 2 is around $12, oxtail and 2 veggies is around $24. I'm more than sure we'll be back.
