Los Sombreros Mexican Restaurant

Ordered the ribeye. It was a flat piece of steak. That place is trash. The Mexican beer that I drink was horrible flat tasted just like tomato only horrible place not recommended.

We celebrated my daughter’s and granddaughter’s birthdays at Los Sombreros in Bessemer, AL a few days ago. The food and service were excellent. Everyone in the party had a wonderful time.

We are visiting from out of town and stopped by this place. The people are nice but the service was ok. Most of the workers you see sitting on the side on their phones. We were trying to get out server’s attention but he wasn’t paying attention so my fiancé had to get up to ask for something. The food has really good portions for the price but I didn’t really like the quality of the food. It didn’t have much flavor. We got combos and it seems like they were really big on ground beef. My chile relleno had ground beef, my taco had ground beef, my fiancé’s enchilada had ground beef. The ground beef didn’t really have flavor, but it was EXTREMELY salty. So much so it ruined the dishes for me. I even tried to ask for hot sauce (not a fan of the sauces) or to just pick on the chile relleno and not eat the beef. I also didn’t think the taco would come as a hard shell.

I think I’m just used to California mexican food. The passion fruit agua fresca was tasty. Overall, probably won’t come here again, unfortunately.

Excellent service! The waiter went above & beyond to make sure I was comfy! I went in to eat alone after church. I’m visiting from Atlanta. Omg the portions were amazing! I can’t wait to go back! Everything was pleasant it’s family friendly! The entire staff was super nice from check in to check out! The food was so good I needed a nap after lol! They didn’t have birria tacos but the flautas were on point! Just go!!’

The food is really excellent, the margaritas are strong, and the service is very friendly. It's a well run large place, a great place for large groups. The prices are VERY reasonable. And the tortillas tast like a hug from grama.
