This is a laid back place with Mexican comfort good. It’s not fancy but they treat you like you are in their home. I think the owners of Amigos in Hoover and Tecate in Vestavia are brothers. The menus are similar and they have the same vibe - strip mall location, unpretentious decor and really good food.

This is probably one of the spots Mexican food lovers just come again and again. The atmosphere is wonderful, the servers are amazing, the food is consistently excellent, this is just a really great establishment to visit! I tried out the chicken fajita and not only was it flavorful, it was very filling. So filling I had leftovers which I gladly brought home. Their salsa is the best I have ever had, and their queso is sublime. Definitely recommended!

I was very disappointed in the food last night. Ordered shredded chicken for my son like usual. The chicken was dry, lacked moisture/juice and sauce/flavor. I ordered the chicken Mole for myself. While the sauce was fine, the chicken was also dry or overcooked. I couldn't even eat half of it. My son still prefers Zapatas, Dos Pesos, and Las Mesas in Calera and I have to agree that all 3 sre better than Amigos. It was also a bit stuffy and hot inside the restaurant as if the air conditioner was barely working. A very unpleasant experience. I will not be coming back anytime soon.

Everything we got here was pretty good. Staff was friendly and the place was pretty busy. There was minimal wait for food and plenty of seating. Huge menu with all types of choices. We'd visit again if in the area.
