Black Market Bar+Grill (Avondale)

Their menu is amazing during the week. I order the Elvis Presley Burger without the egg. So huge I was only able to eat half of it. It came with sweet potato fries and oh my!! Brendan and Mel are amazing people. We usually drop in on Sundays after church and enjoy their brunch menu. This is definitely one of the best places in BHM to eat.

Update, went back and they had a small menu because of a show. I guess I'll never get to try there real food. Also service was slow and the place was half empty.

Ok my first time here back in October of 25 wasn't a good experience, however in the last 30 days I have been back twice, and let me say, some times first impressions are worth reconsidering.

IF YOU ARE COMING IN BECAUSE YOU ARE GOING TO A CONCERT/SHOW AT AVONDALE, THERE IS A DIFFERENT MENU, SO TO GET THE FULL EFFECT, COME ON A NON SHOW NIGHT.

Last night, 4/27/26 after leaving a comedy show as Cahaba, my wife and I stopped in to eat. We got the wings (pretty good)

She got the pimento burger, and I got the Trashcan Burger.

BOTH WERE Incredible. the Atmosphere was killer, the music was right, and the food was awesome.

Our Server Sarah was great and attentive, and remembered us from a few weeks back when we came in to see Hippie Sabotage. My wife even bought shirts!

very surprised when i asked if they had a veggie burger & they did! fries r killer. vibes were cute. menu was messy but it was kind of fun for real. 9/10 for sure!

At launch this place was really nice to take my fiance too and grab a late night bite and drink. Lately the service is going down hill. The seat yourself thing is nice… if the wait staff actually sees or decides they wanna serve you. Food was good but lately it seems the are cooking fried food in old oil and it shows in taste. And if your gonna have online ordering can you with have it work or tell your staff that if they don’t see a order when a customer is waiting for a pickup order for 20 mins maybe just take the order and apologize forth right? I hope they get back to the standards how they were originally but who knows I’m probably speaking upon deaf ears.

I met the owner at the gym. His energy was contagious he was so welcoming and polite so I had to check out his restaurant. Upon visiting I was amazed with the level of detail into this place and the food was amazing. 10/10 I strongly recommend this place if your looking for a great time.
