Black Market Bar+Grill (Avondale)

This was a neat little place we stumbled upon. The food was excellent 👌. If you are thinking of going to a chain, you might as well choose this local place instead. The food was much better than any chain at a similar price. Our group had burgers and a appetizer with a variety. The burgers were juicy but not greasy with many different options. Definitely try the seasoned fries. The variety appetizer was also a great size for a 4 person share. Their drinks were excellent and they didn't skimp. The waitress (sorry I'm horrible with names), was so nice and attentive with a spunky personality. Everyone there seemed to be having a great time. 👍 To the rubber duck claw machine. We won one for the Jeep owner in our group. Oh and the bathrooms were super clean. If the bathrooms aren't well maintained, it makes me question the kitchen situation. Great place!

Good ahs food cool lookin place

I had dinner with my wife and friends on 5/2/25 and we had a great meal with perfect service from Leslie!!! I really love the new Avondale location and look forward to my next visit. 5 stars!!

The atmosphere was great. The new location is a little bit smaller then it's old location, but they have a parking lot now. The foods the same which is still good.

The food was decent. There wasn't anything particularly remarkable about their dishes. When I sat at the bar, I didn't feel very welcomed. The bartender inquired if my order was for takeout instead of asking if they could take my order or offering a drink menu. As a result, I didn't experience that Southern hospitality or warmth. The ambiance has a Gothic theme that emphasizes darkness and malevolent spirits. To sum it up, I certainly sensed those negative vibes while I was there.

Breakfast till 3? Really?

Left after waiting 40+ minutes without food. After 30 minutes, the only thing we got was a cocktail. Another table was waiting 15 minutes for their check. Servers were nice, they're just understaffed.

This establishment is a new restaurant to the Avondale area but not new to the city of Birmingham. The atmosphere has a cool vibe, there is indoor and outdoor sitting. Service was good our waiter was Caleb and he was very attentive. The food was not hot upon arrival, it was warm but was good. There is a full bar and if you have a large party they accept reservations and they are open until 2 am.

Waitress was very nice and knowledgeable about the menu as it was our first time there. My husband is vegan and their menu was accommodating.

Food was not complete done and it was cold. I did have a call in order but I was told 15 to 20 mins. I went in around 15 mins. Also I wasn’t aware that they charge gratuity on to go orders.
