Dazzling the taste buds with culinary brilliance. An exceptional dining experience.

Believe everything you read about the terrible windows and hearing all the street noise. This is an old classic downtown hotel that’s solidly built and that has been renovated to stay relevant (which it is and which I love) but the horrible mistake that’s been made here was not replacing the windows. Our room, on the third floor, still has original single pane double-hung windows. Fortunately, they are layers thick in paint and not functioning, but every one of them has a sizable gap between the upper and lower panes. They are nowhere near air-tight. So in the early evening on our one-night stay, the TV could overcome the din of cars and sidewalk pedestrian chatter. But after bedtime the street racing started, and we might as well have been at a NASCAR track, I kid you not. And helicopters. And sirens. Plus loud motorcycles and cruisers all sharing music at volumes all of downtown could enjoy. If I’d had the presence of mind I’d have recorded it. I get this is downtown street life, but if you’re looking for a restful night of sleep in a quiet room, this is NOT where you want to be. Oh, and don’t bring your Discover card. They don’t take it here, which I thought was a little odd. I’d give the hotel 4 stars overall but a 0 for noise.

My wife wanted to stay in a hotel over the weekend as a small getaway for our anniversary.... She reserved a suite at The Kelly as it was recommended by one of her associates... She reserved 2 nights Sat July 16th and Sun July 17th.... Suites was secured on my credit card for the 2 nights.... When we arrived to check in at around 7:00 pm Our suite had been given to someone else yet we were charged for it.... The clerk on duty put us in a regular king size room and said he would leave a not for management the next morning to resolve the situation..... The room we were given was extremely small with a king size bed that felt like you were sleeping on cardboard with hay underneath.... There was no microwave and no refrigerator which was disappointing..... we were on the 10th floor yet the ice machine was in the basement.... according to the pamphlet left in the room the restaurant was open till 10:00 pm yet when we went down at 9:00 pm we were informed the kitchen was already closed yet this was a Saturday night..... we ended up ordering pizza from dominoes however we had to eat it quicker than usual due to the fact that there was no way to heat the pizza if cold due to no microwave..... Getting past all of that we thought we would retire around 1130 to get some much needed rest however at around midnight we were awaken rather rudely by the sounds muscle cars on the streets below revving up their engines and doing burnouts on the streets below the sound being echoed off of the adjacent buildings surrounding the hotel.... This went on until about 5:00 am at which time i finally closed my eyes.... The bathroom was the one good point it is huge with a big shower that makes you want to stay in the water longer..... We went down and met with Johnathan on our way out for the day on sunday.... contrary to what the desk person told us when we checked in there was no note left so the manager had no knowledge as to the experience from last night.... When we explained the situation he said he would put us in a suite when we returned that evening and not charge for the previous night... When we returned we were moved one door over into a suite which Still did not have a refrigerator or microwave and was only called a suite because it had an extra tv and a small couch other than that it was identical to the other room..... We tried to sleep Sunday night however instead of street racing this night it looked like the whole Birmingham Police force decided to come out and turn their sirens on all at the same time.... We checked out the next morning and were actually glad to leave.... I checked my credit card and What the hotel manager said about not charging for the first night appears to have just been talk as i was billed 2 separate times for rooms..... This hotel is absolutely not worth the money that was spent to stay there..... One final thing, there is no parking available so you will have to use the valet service.... they are kind of nosey, my radio station was changed and made conversation about items i had in my vehicle......

I was in town for a wedding this weekend and stayed at The Kelly. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are very spacious for being in a historic building. The price was fantastic for such a nice hotel in a good location. The staff is unbelievably friendly and welcoming. I didn't get the names of the front desk workers but they were absolutely terrific! The valets are some of the best I've ever encountered. Eric, Tory and Thomas went out of their way to be helpful every single time. One evening I accidentally left a bag in the car and Thomas volunteered to go all the way back to the parking garage to get it for me. From now on, when I am in Birmingham I won't be staying anywhere else but The Kelly. I suggest you do too!

Val & Caleb were so helpful and friendly. Valet greeted us upon arrival and was super friendly. Val checked our group in in a timely manner. She had a smile on her face everytime I saw her in the lobby. They both made our stay enjoyable. Their friendly faces made time away from home bearable. Great staff. Great stay. Will be back.

Modern hotel at the heart of Birmingham! The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, and everyone there was amazing. Every staff member I encountered, from the valet to the check- in to the manager to the bar staff were all delightful and eager to help! Special thanks to Roderick Clark who was professional, friendly, and so dedicated to making sure you feel valued. Can't recommend the Kelly enough.

My family was in town for a city festival, upon arrival we were greeted by the Valet team Immediately, they were very friendly and hospitable. Caleb and Eric were very knowledgeable about the hotel as well as about the city of Birmingham. I loved the old building and the ambiance as we walked in it was everything I imagined. The great service and the food would definitely bring us back to the Kelly!!!!

Travelers beware! Hotel is overpriced, understaffed with poor customer service, located on a very noisy street and has rooms with no fridge, microwave and ice only available on the first floor. There was never a hotel manager available to share my concerns. I was told the hotel manager was out for the day and there was no one in charge. I also had to wait 10 to 15 minutes before a server would come out in the dining area to check for new guests and take my order. I stayed in a room with a leaky sink that created pools of water on the restroom floor picked up by hotel staff with a heap of hotel towels instead of an industrial mop. I have stayed at hotels by Hilton across the country and only booked a stay at this hotel expected to be served with optimal Hilton service standards. The Kelley Tapestry Collection in Birmingham experience was the absolute worst. I am actually considering canceling my Hilton Honors membership.

We have called several times the customer service and the hotel itself and was “disconnected”. We stayed at the hotel in Alabama and 1 did not have the best experience with the front desk and 2 we were charged for someone else’s room charge. When we tried to check in there was another person who was checking in the same day with the same name. The man that checked us in took my card and added it to their reservation. After my partner and I felt weird about the situation so we decided to speak to him again about taking my card. He showed me someone else’s information and my partner asked to be refunded the $100 deposit (which we THOUGHT he did) and to take off my card from the other persons room because the man stated prior that the card on file under the other person was bounced. He stated that he did, however, that is not the case because I was still charged whatever the other person put on the room. I was charged $228.08. Which I should not have been.

The only reason for the three star rating is because of the amazing service that my wife and I received from Malachi at the front desk and Leslie at the bar other than that it would’ve been way lower. We had to be moved THREE different times due to low tier cleaning from the housekeeping department which is not up to Hilton standards nor the tier this hotel is trying to be. Thank you to Malachi and Leslie for making our weekend getaway amazing with their hospitality, charm, laughs and amazing drinks. We would only come back for the location and staff members mentioned.

I’m loving all of the revitalization going on in downtown Birmingham now and was looking forward to a boutique experience at The Kelly. I’m going to flex as a Lifetime Diamond member of Hilton, this hotel missed the mark on a lot of levels. No upgrade, no pantry, no fridge, not even bottled water. The rooms are sadly uninspired, my room had not been vacuumed, and there was nothing overly boutique feeling about it. Ok a HUGE compliment though…. First hotel ever to give me one of each type of pillow here. I loved the mix. Now another negative, front desk staff never ever looked up at me the whole time I was there. And I’ll end on a positive, the valet staff was great (I didn’t pay the crazy $35 a night but they were like the friendly greeters). Bar staff was great and food was ok.

I traveled to Birmingham on business, and I was to stay at The Kelly for one night. While there, I came down with the flu and ended up having to extend my stay by 2 nights. The staff was amazing and so accommodating. There's no room service, but they do offer breakfast during a certain time period. I came downstairs at the very end of the time period -- in my pajamas! -- and the server & cook made something to order for me since I told them I'd been ill. The valets -- especially Tesence -- were awesome, despite having to deal with a new automated system. I will undoubtedly return to Birmingham, and I will definitely stay at The Kelly!

The historic building shell was an amazing canvas for a beautiful hotel. However, this renovation misses the mark. The public spaces do not appear to be thought through. The new decor already feels dated. The construction quality and attention to detail is poor. I would guess costs were cut, unfortunately leading what feels like a 2 star hotel- not a Tapestry. The guestrooms were adequate, although the same detail issues persist- furniture in front of doorways because it doesnt fit, no towel hooks in bathrooms, view of a brick wall, no late check outs allowed, deferred maintenance, not sufficiently cleaned, etc. A minor renovation and better service could fix all these issues - lots of potential. If you are looking for a boutique hotel experience, this is unfortunately not the hotel for you.
