Great Burger!
This Highlands affiliated establishment brings a Paris Bistro to a shady street in Five Points. Reservations are a must but come early and enjoy a drink at the bar along with a very Parisian hard boiled egg. In addition to the bar and main room there is a lovely garden area where, weather permitting you can enjoy your evening.
The menu is small but beautifully curated to showcase the best in class preparations of quintessential French Bistro fare…moulles, escargot, steak tartar, pate. The Trout Amandine with superb and the Duck with cherries a delight. One of our guests ordered the Croque Monsieur and said she was instantly back in Paris 20 years ago
The serving staff was wonderful to us and our two hours were a highlight to our visit to Birmingham.
What a wonderful time!!!! ❤️❤️❤️ Everyone was so nice. One of the best meals in a long time.
The best!!!
A little French bistro in Birmingham Alabama. Open for lunch and dinner five days a week. The menu changes seasonally with daily specials.
This restaurant is so good. Probably one of my favorites in Birmingham now. We did not make reservations so we took a seat at the bar on a Saturday evening. We were well taken care of by the bartender, who recommended pairings for what we ordered. We tried the escargot, the bread, the hamburger, and the hanger steak. Everything was delicious and so were the drinks from the bar. Would absolutely be back here.
The burger was scrumptious as promised. What a terrific place to lunch in Birmingham. The service was outstanding.
WONDERFUL!! We stopped for hotel and dinner on a drive to Florida. So glad we tried this place. It’ll be my go-to place when I drive through. Food and service was outstanding! It’s small and therefore a bit noisy.. but I still give it 5 stars.
The bartenders are phenomenal. They know what you need before you have to ask and are personable while also being efficient. They give you everything you could want out of service. The burger is great and the fries are perfect.
Looking for a lunch spot on the way to the airport and I am so happy to have rounded out my AL trip with this amazing meal! I love trying everything that looks good, so you can imagine how big I feel when I leave…I had to make wise decisions…it was only lunch by the way! I went with Nathan’s recommendations (he was fantastic, by the way). Small plates steak tartare, soupe du jour (chanterelle cream), and the fish paillard with persimmon, pickled peppers and cilantro. The fish paillard was my favorite! I was afraid it would be spicy with the way he described it (and he assured me it wouldn’t be), but it was prefect! I also ordered the trout (from NC) amandine with haricots verts and brown butter. I absolutely LOVED taking a bite of the fish, perfectly crisped skin and all, and tasting the sweet buttery flavor. Yum! I ordered off menu for dessert and went with their winter citrus sorbet with shortbread cookie. Key note: ask for an extra shortbread cookie - I could live off these! Will be back!

One of my father's favorite traditions is to grab three seats at the bar - the ones in the corner so you can experience the whole scene from a perched vantage point - at some point just before Christmas. If you're much too mercurial to make a reservation, consider popping by at an odd time and you just might be able to swing it. This year, three generations supped on cocktails - Grand Larceny is worth doing time for - escargot and chanterelles.

I have been eating at Chez Fon Fon for many years and it remains a gem - extraordinary food and consistently the best service. They came back strong after the pandemic. Bouchon Bistro (Yountville, CA) is comparable in style and food but I have found both the food and service to be better at Fon Fon.

Service was fantastic. Added a third person last minute and no issue. Got there earlier and they sat us. Server was great. Steak tartar and escargot and mussels as good as you can get outside of Paris.

Stopped in for a late lunch to celebrate a recent business meeting. The bar was open for immediate seating and the bartender was fully versed on the menu and legacy of the family resto. Extremely high quality.
