Chez Fonfon never disappoints! The food is authentic, flavorful, and beautifully prepared — you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. The cozy bistro atmosphere and great service make it one of Birmingham’s top spots for a relaxed but memorable meal. Always a great experience!

Chez Fonfon is one of the best dining spots in Birmingham! The food is consistently amazing — especially the steak frites — and the atmosphere is cozy and charming. The staff is attentive, and the whole experience feels special without being pretentious. Perfect for date night or a nice dinner out. Highly recommend! 🍷

What a lovely place with welcoming warm atmosphere. The staff are attentive to your every need without being intrusive. The French onion soup is among the best I've ever had. To me the genius of the food here is how they take ordinary, everyday things and then combine them into something extraordinary that far exceeds the sum of the parts. Highly reccomended.

The steak frites here are killer, that brown butter sauce is everything. Service was quick even on a busy Friday night, but the place gets loud fast. Love the patio when it's nice out.

It was really nice. The only negative matter is pricing.

Went there for our anniversary. The service was amazing wish I would have gotten the server’s name very kind and very educated on the menu ( which is a little hard to understand if you don’t know French cuisine) we tried escargot for the first time which was delicious! I got the shrimp salad, which was 8 out of 10 my Husband got the hanger steak rare which was also really good probably a seven out of 10, we also got a dessert. I think it was the poundcake thing I’m not sure it looks simple, but it was very good and they even wrote happy anniversary on. It was very happy with the experience.

Excellent food. Bustling bistro atmosphere. My main complaint is the noise and the tables crowded together.
However, I will say that our food was superb - I had butternut squash soup and their salad and my husband had the scallops.

A French bistro tucked into the heart of Birmingham. I had the trout amandine — buttery, delicate, and balanced with toasted almonds. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate, with a little European charm. Service was polished but warm, making the evening feel relaxed yet special.

Steak frites landed perfectly—tender beef, crisp fries, and a bright pan sauce that tied it all together. Service moved smoothly without fuss, and the bistro buzz made the room feel lively but unhurried. A polished classic that still feels genuinely cozy.
