Had been wanting to get here since they opened and it just hadn’t worked out. Well, my wife and I remedied that and what a great experience!! We love Automatic and just knew this would be a hit. Did not disappoint in the least, from the moment you walk in, atmosphere is welcoming and on point, friendliness of the staff was top notch!

We had a drink in the bar while we waited for our reservation, they could have seated us but we wanted to experience a drink at the bar, bartenders were super professional and made excellent drinks!

The food, what can I say, everything we tried we amazing. We will be back soon as there are so many others items that looked amazing and the menu does change with the seasons. I had the short rib, Bulgogi tacos, they were so dang good!! Wife had the curry noodles, I would say the best I’ve ever had!

All in all, I highly recommend this restaurant!!!

I came in to Current last week with a group of friends. The pork and shiitake dumplings were 10/10; I got the Bo Ssam as my main but there are also amazing options here for vegetarians, my friend got the Thai carrot soup and squash fritters and was very happy. Everything was really flavorful but not overdone and the service was attentive and quick. It was my first time here and we will definitely be back!

We decided last minute to try out Current Charcoal Grill. A few friends had recommended that we try it. We were able to get reservations at the bar and we are SO thankful that we sat at the bar. Kendall and Sydney were incredible! They were very professional, attentive, and kind. We shared spirits that we like and asked them to make us whatever they’d like. The drinks did not disappoint! They made great drinks and really made our experience top notch. We started with a few appetizers (hush puppies and spring rolls), then moved on to our entrees (Penang Curry and Dan Dan Noodles with spicy beef). We also tried a side of the tempura sweet potatoes. DON’T MISS OUT ON THOSE! They were shockingly delicious. We ended with coffee, chocolate pie, and coconut rice pudding.

Well put this in our dinner rotation for sure. We were so impressed and can’t wait to go back!

We had a phenomenal dinner at Current! Claire K. provided world-class service and made our night truly seamless. Every dish was a hit—we loved the butter chicken with that unique Thai kick and the incredibly fresh flown-in redfish. Whatever you do, make sure the fritters are on your table, and definitely order the duck fat washed Peking Order! Birmingham is lucky to have this spot!

Started with a clove & Nashi ( gin cocktail ) definitely recommend it. Main course red fish was okay, had almost no taste. I was told it's because I had the coconut sauce on the side. In a restaurant with a Michelin star or has a place in Michelin guide should serve the best tasting food . Anything covered in sauce can taste good. There was a mistake in wine menu. But the glass of white wine from Germany was good. Dessert tasted delicious. The service was excellent. I was able to sit outside with my dog.

Delicious food, fantastic service, and welcoming hosts. We arrived into town late and were looking for something that was open. We lucked into Current and had a perfect meal. They were attentive to food allergies (gluten) and preferences. The food was delicious, we had pork belly, redfish and Dan Dan noodles. The service was some of the best we've experienced in a long time. The venue was gorgeous to boost!

Reputation as a must try was well deserved. Appetizers were so good we ordered more. Peking Duck was awesome as were the Dan Dan noodles. You must save room for dessert. We will be back.

First time visit and everything was excellent. We were 15 mins early for our reservation, but we were seated immediately and without any confusion. In my Birmingham experience, this is very rare (especially for a Saturday night) and very welcome. It wasn't because the restaurant was slow, it was because they were on top of things.

We asked our waiter about the patio because we thought about sitting outside but were worried about the cold. There are heaters facing down from the ceiling, but I don't know if there are any temp walls to block the wind.

The food was excellent. After discussing the menu and our prefs with the server, he suggest an excellent wine that paired well with everything.

The pork and shitake dumplings were so good I could have eaten 20 myself. The house-made chili crisp was delicious. I wouldn't let them take it away as I wanted to have it with the entree. It was too good to waste.

The panang curry was the best I've ever had. Full stop. No questions. The flavor was layered and complex and just kept getting better the longer you tasted it. Everything about it was perfect. The short rib was just right, so tender it felt like a warm hug. The curry sauce itself... I don't know how to describe how good it was, but I can say I had to resist just wiping my finger thru the bowl to make sure I got it all. Even the rice was perfect. The only complaint I have is that I'm sitting here the next day writing this review, and I don't have an enormous helping of it on a plate in front of me. I'm sad, and I miss it.

The dessert was the miso custard tart. Yaaaaall. Order 2 so you can eat one and cuddle with the second and whisper to it about how amazing it is.

Glad we found this place, sad it took so long to do so. The food made me so happy I could pass out hugs to everyone involved. Zero issues. Service was great, all around. Busser was on top of things and was never annoying or in the way. Water glasses were always full. Table was always clean, but never cleaned too early. Restaurant was beautiful. It's a new fav. Can I please just come by and be taught how to make that curry? Please? I want to come try everything on the menu, but it'll be too hard to pass up an opportunity to have that again. I'll volunteer time for some lessons! I can do prep work.

Honestly, huge thank you and kudos to everyone involved in our experience here, from host to kitchen to service. You have a special place and do it right.

First impression was great! The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Service was magnificent from the valet to our server. The ambiance was very relaxing. Great restaurant for date night. It was quite empty for a Saturday night but still very enjoyable.

I was honestly disappointed, spent a lot of money for our experience to be tainted by our server ; but we seen many great reviews so we were expecting more. My significant other and I went for a date night Friday and our server just seemed very not interested in our table, as well as her attitude being a little bit rude and disinterested with us. She never even introduced herself to us so we don’t have a name. Also the food took forever to come. After that happened I asked her multiple questions about the menu and she wasn’t able to properly answer them so when I got the food it was a completely different flavor profile than she described so it wasn’t quite the flavors we were expecting. It’s unfortunate that we got a server who didn’t really value us like she did the other tables.
