Edgar’s Bakery on 2713 18th Street South saved my nieces wedding day. The cake made by someone else unfortunately had no support and started to fall apart. The cake could not be displayed or in pictures. We made a decision to try to locate another cake. We drove to and called several stores and bakeries to no avail. Before giving up my daughter made a call to Edgar’s. She immediately said, mom they were actually nice (the other bakeries we called were rude) then she said mom the lady said they may have something that will work. We made it there and unfortunately there were no all white cakes but there was a lot of strawberry cakes, chocolate, and other flavors. Still nothing that we thought we could add flowers to and make it match her wedding colors. One of the young ladies at the counter went to get the manager and also I believe the Baker/decorator. We told her what happened and showed some of the pictures. It was so close to closing time so I would’ve totally understood if there was nothing that could be done. She asked me to wait so she can make a few phone calls to see if there’s anything that she could do to help or offer any advice. After she made a couple of phone calls and no one answered, she finally said you know, I can help. She asked for a little time and she came from the back with a beautiful a two tier cake. It was perfect. She also noticed on the cake that was ruined that my niece wanted a textured icing so she went the extra super Duper mile and textured the icing on the cake she made for us. We also purchased a chocolate cake for the grooms cake because it was also ruined. The kindness and support that the staff at this bakery provided us in the mist of a complete disaster was beautiful and heart warming. They could’ve easily said not our cake, not our problem plus it’s almost closing time but no, we were offered a solution and comfort. I am back in Dallas,TX now and I can’t stop telling everyone about our wonderful blessed experience. I am so sorry that I cannot remember the name of the wonderful lady that made the cake but she knows who she is and I really hope she shares her wonderfulness with everyone in the Edgar’s Bakery family and in Birmingham, Alabama.FYI, Edgar’s did NOT make the cake that fell. Edgar’s kindly made the perfect cake that replaced it.

So I've never actually come here and tried any of their other desserts but their strawberry cake is soooo addicting! I'm not even sure what's in the cake (drugs?? How does it taste so good?!) but I can literally sit there and eat the whole thing if I could! This is probably one of my favorite cakes out there and I'm usually a chocolate loving girl so that's what's even more surprising. Every time I've picked up cake from here. the service is super quick! Parking is a little tough in the area but I've never had any problem finding a spot right outside. Ambiance is super casual and chill! Will definitely always be back because this is my go to cake spot!!

I ordered a cake and picked it up from here. As I picked up I grabbed candles that was $10 which is completely fine. As I was walking out the door with cake and candle I asked if there’s a knife for cake cutter. They said they could sell me one. I bought a cake for $50 and candles for $10. Jesus they made me ring 3 times for 1 dollar and some cents for plastic cake cutter that broke cutting the cake. Regardless of knife breaking and cutting my wife’s hand, as soon as they charged me for the third time for that knife I was done from Edgar’s after over a decade of visiting here.

Stopped by for a slice of cake and picked up a gingerbread cookie.I'll start by saying it was the last day of business for the week, which I believe affected the product.The cookie was good, a tad stale around the legs and arms, and not incredibly gingerbready..still a good value for the size.The cake slice (German chocolate) was rich, moist layers, but overly sweet, could not finish more than a few bites.The staff were very friendly, helpful, and eager to ask any questions about the products...which is amazing based on the pretentiousness and overall snootiness of other customers.
Good food. Great service. Family-friendly atmosphere. Brunch with the boys was great. They all enjoyed their meals and a little something sweet afterwards.

We used Edgar's for our wedding cake. We ended up having a problem with the order. I called after the wedding and spoke with Olivia and she made things right. So even though we had a little problem with the cake, we felt like she was fair and really tried to make it up to us. We will still be using Edgar's in the future because of Olivia's kindness and professionalism handling things!
