Stepping into FILTER Coffee Parlor in Birmingham feels like entering a thoughtful, art-infused café that balances community and quality with ease. Located in Five Points South in the space that once housed a Starbucks, FILTER brings new character and purpose to its corner of town.

The coffee here is genuinely impressive. Whether you order a straightforward latte or one of their signature drinks like the Lavender Blossom or Salted Butterscotch, the balance is there—flavorful but not overdone. Their pour-overs frequently draw praise, with notes of cacao nibs, black cherry, and cashew coming through on daily roasts.

I love Filter. It is my go-to place to get a good coffee. I have never, ever, had a bad coffee here. The atmosphere is nice and they have everything a good coffee shop downtown needs: good coffee, great service, free WiFi, free parking, and good baked goods. I will always recommend stopping by for a good drink or caffeine fix.

My husband got the Orange Bliss Cioccolato coffee and I got the Hibiscus Berry Herbal tea. Delicious! Thank you Jeremy and Michael!

My favorite coffee shop in birmingham! The owner Jeremy and all the staff are so down to earth and friendly. Coffee is top notch. Plenty of space to sit and relax, chat, or work. Love the empanadas too. I’m always trying to avoid plastic cups and so I like that they can serve for here drinks in a glass/mug and also have option to put the drink in your own reusable cup. They also have kids games in the upstairs space and so it’s a good place to bring kids too. And some books including a local Birmingham based collection as well as a little library. This place is a foundation of five points and I encourage everyone to go here, support the place, and enjoy!

COZY! I am not from here, I stopped by here because I love coffee. Originally from Orlando and for vacation I am spending it in Alabama before life stirs me away from enjoying it. The service was quick and easy. I appreciate the patience as I was also unfamiliar with the menu being that places offer different types of coffee and I never looked over it before hand. I see why there’s allot of locals here, it’s very inviting.

I go to filter pretty often and every time my drink is consistently good! They have a kind and efficient staff, the shop is always clean and welcoming! I highly recommend stopping by for an iced latte or a cinnamon roller
