Had the whole wing meal with mac & cheese and collard greens. Chicken is good mac & cheese is good. The problem is sugar and the colored greens and they are canned greens and not fresh.

I wanted to like the chicken but unfortunately, I just kept eating hoping it would get better. The breading on the chicken is not crispy, it is more spongy. Now I smell like fried chicken all day and I'm left with bad decisions and regret...

Fried chicken is hands down, best I ever had. I ordered the dark, but wish I added a breast as well when I saw one on someone else's plate. I normally don't like collard greens, but my wife always orders them when she sees them on a menu. I always reach in for a little taste and usually quiver a little bit, but I did not when I tried them at Gus's. I think I would actually order them when we go back. The restaurant is in an old historic building in downtown Birmingham, but the neighborhood doesn't seem great. It's definitely not a place for a late dinner! Lunch or early dinner is fine!

Parking: Street parking when you can find it. Recommend parking as close to the restaurant as you can if going in the evening.
