This place seems to be at the end of its line and on life support. It doesn’t seem like much effort or anything above the absolute bare minimum has been invested in upkeep, basic maintenance, amenities or standard periodic replacement and refreshes of the rooms. Some of the FOH staff was pretty attentive and nice, others didn’t really want to be there and honestly feel bad for all of them bc IHG clearly had given up on this location. We joked about all the issues all weekend (my friends room smelled like cigs at check-in and wasn’t clean, woof) so at least it provided another memory from a great weekend!
Few notes:
- The door was faulty and wouldn’t close on its own
- Elevators broken for 2 of 3 days. Fourth floor so wasn’t end of the world.
- AC was super loud but kinda liked it as a noise machine so that’s chill with me.
- shower knob broke
- sliding barn door to a bathroom for a hotel that doesn’t fix or appear to regularly QC is a bad idea / accident waiting to happen
rude hotel staff(not ashley) room is way too hot to sleep in had to leave
One of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had. The elevator was out of service but I was still given a 4th-floor room and had to carry luggage up the stairs with no manager available to help.
The bed and pillows were uncomfortable, the room was noisy, and I barely slept.
Breakfast was mishandled — I signed for items I never received.
Valet parking was slow, made me late, and I was charged more than the listed price without explanation.
Extremely poor service and very disappointing.
If I could leave a negative 10 i would. Service is awful. Called to get a quilt for the roll out bed that they called to inform me that I HAD TO HAVE because they could not accommodate my reservation I made TWO MONTHS AGO. The front desk said “ you can meet me down here in 10 minutes”
This hotel was terrible. They called me the day of check in to inform me they did not have the room I booked I had to stay in a room with one bed instead of two and that’s not what I booked. Then the elevators didn’t work had to walk up 6 flights of stairs. Then when I called to request a blanket for the roll out bed due to them NOT giving me the room I booked they told me they would not bring it up that could come get it.
Overall the hotel is ok. It is located near the five points area which is near the UAB campus. At night this area is loud with music, cars and motorcycles. Plus the police sirens are pretty common
We showed up at 8:30 pm, reservation intact and confirmed at check-in. I was informed that their elevator failed inspection today and was unavailable. But, check-in employee told me he had good news. He got me on the lowest level possible, the 6th floor and due to this minor inconvenience (6th floor and no elevator) the manager had authorized giving me 2000 IHG points for free. This hotel failed elevator inspection sometime during working hours but the hotel did not have the courtesy to call us ahead of time to let us know the situation. Instead, we show up mid-evening and during check-in we were informed that our room was on the 6th floor but no elevator. Totally unsatisfactory. Stay away from this property.
Very nice hotel...staff was perfect.
Sliding door to bathroom is falling off the tracks and hard to operate. 100+ lb door fell off the tracks in the middle of the night - could have seriously hurt somebody, and I then I had to remount it.
Front desk at 1230 at night could not be reached, after repeated calls. Went downstairs and she was indifferent to the situation, and acting like I was just bothering her, and offered no apologies just a new room (empathy goes a long way).
In morning we discover that there are only 2 towels in the room. Call down for more at 645a and are told they don't have staff to bring up, but to come down.. Go down slightly after 7a and are told that they only have face towels and will send some real towels up.
Call down after 730 and talk to Lissette. She informs me that housekeeping has access to the towels and that they won't be there until 830a, and that she cannot get me any towels. I ask to speak to a manger, and she informs me that she is the manager - to which I ask to speak to a higher level manager, and she says they are out of town, and she is it... A rude conversation from a customer service standpoint goes on for 10 minutes, regarding the towels and other problems. Lissette is unable to help with towels, and keeps asking what I want (towels).. Mind you the hotel industry is about hospitality, and shouldn't be hostility... At the end of the conversation, I just say I want towels ... Magically 10-15 min later I have towels -- so it was a problem that could be overcome had they exercised proper customer service to start..
On top of all this the fridge is barely cold - I fear eating any leftovers that were placed in it.
Substandard customer service, rooms that aren't properly prepared, and a generally bad stay.... and I can't fathom how the front desk would have no spare towels and head manager has no access to them... Beyond poor service.
I wasn't aware there's a $40 charge for valet parking. There's free street parking after hours with the meters but you may have to do a bit of a walk which isn't bad.

Location was selling point. Have no clue how they keep the Hotel Indigo status.
Nice hotel, but not exceptional. Restaurant was the pits. The room was okay. A coffee maker had no plug, so you had to carry it into the bathroom. We probably would not go back before trying something else.
Friendly staff tho not very knowledgeable about their own services. For a suite, it was quite lacking in the basics. Didn't even have plastic ware. The kitchenette was a glorified wet-bar. The door to the bathroom was a barn style door with an inch gap on both sides which is no bueno for privacy. It's 2 stars for the price. It's a 4 star for a more reasonable price.
You don't get to adjust the temperature in your room to what you want.. do better
This was a cozy hotel in the historic 5 points area. We used street parking which was free on the evenings and weekends. Our bed was comfy and cleaned on day 2 of 3. Tiffany and Justin at the front desk were so kind and helpful! They made our stay so enjoyable even though the key cards for the rooms didn’t work.
