Great stop for an afternoon treat.Would recommend the peanut butter and chocolate chips & the gooey butter cake.The dark chocolate & vanilla did not really hit the spot.
they locked the doors before we walked up, 5 minutes before closing time. there was still a full line inside. they looked at us through the window and said “sorry.” but the hours on the door clearly stated that they were not closed yet. we just wanted to buy a pint of ice cream to-go. i get that they need to close up and someone coming in five minutes before close isn’t ideal, but on a busy saturday night closing early is just poor customer service.

I love this little shop! It is all smiles when you're serving scoops of joy. They have several flavor options for ice cream that you can get in a bowl or fresh cone. The whole place smells like warm waffles, what's not to love?!

I have bought Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams in grocery stores before but I have never been in one of their ice cream shops until recently. I finally did pay one of the local stores a visit and I wonder why those people are still in business. Every time I tried to get ice cream, the employees turn me away.

The service here was so great! The employee knew everything about every flavor to a level that a sommelier would about his favorite wine. The flavors were excellent and always, and they have even more vegan options now!Vegetarian options: All of emDietary restrictions: Great w labels and avoiding cross contamination

Really delicious ice cream. We tried about 6 different flavors and they were all delicious. Vanilla, brown butter, salted peanut butter, coffee with cream and sugar. You can't go wrong here. The staff was patient with us when we tried flavors to decide what to get. Not a lot of room inside so we did have to sit outside. And the paper ice cream bowls were very shallow. So once the ice cream started to melt, it made a bit of a mess. But that's ok. I totally recommend it.

Changed my review since they have posted hours until 11 PM on Google and have the doors locked at 10:29 PM. We drove a good way just to get Jenis so it was really disappointing that they don’t honor their posted hours. It is great ice cream annd they normally have awesome service but we won’t be coming here again. It’s also overpriced for ice cream.

Ice cream is hit or miss depending on the flavor. The line moves so slow. There is not enough staff for every customer to try 5 flavors.
Only figured out last night that this place was a chain, but it is chain worth trying! I went to my first Jeni's in Nashville, and when I saw that they had one in Birmingham I was going nowhere else! Be prepared - a standard waffle cone is two scoops, not one. Ice cream is rich and delicious. This chain is a keeper!

Fantastic ice cream in a great little shop in a walkable shopping district. While it was a little chilly when visiting, we couldn't help but enjoy the outdoor patio. It' was my mother's birthday, so we took advantage of the birthday discount. Service was quick and friendly and they were knowledgeable about each of their unique flavors.

Jeni. WHOEVER you are. I LOVE YOU. We just stopped in Birmingham for the night & I wanted ice cream. This place was AMAZING. GREAT service, the workers were amazing. She greeted us and answered all our questions. The outdoor seating topped it off for us. It was great weather and it felt great to sit outside and just enjoy everything. if i ever am in Birmingham again, i definitely will stop by! The waffle cones taste like cake & made our ice cream taste so much better!!!

I was really surprised with our experience @ Jeni's because of the reviews. Pro's: (1) the 2 guys working that day were friendly (2) there were two non dairy options - & the lemon (non dairy) was quite tasty. Cons: (1) the chocolate (sheet cake) non dairy was pretty bad - bitter, (2) the honey vanilla my husband got had no flavor. I had to taste for myself because I found that hard to believe. It was true!! It was quite bland - never had bland ice cream. (3) the salty caramel... well it had some kind of flavor but not caramel or salty caramel. I expected visible caramel maybe a ribbon of caramel running through the ice cream. Nope!! It tasted nothing like caramel at all. Not sure how to describe the flavor or what it was. (4) Lastly the waffle bowl... it was savory!! Weird - usually they have a mild sweetness or mapely flavor or at least somewhat like a regular waffle. Better ice cream in other places
