Macaroni was good candy yams I didn’t like grilled pork chop wasn’t well done cooked cooked or tasted good I’m at work and just had to deal with it because I ordered through DoorDash

Okay so basically I ordered Kats on doordash and received a roach in my food.(It was submerged in the smothered gravy) (So I don't know if it was thrown away) Immediately I called the owner and she told me I could just order a cup of juice and she'll give me another meal. But at that point I didn't want another meal. So after I sent her the pictures (her personal phone number is the number on the website) I told her could she please contact doordash because they didn't want to give me a refund. And she never responded. (This was after we exchanged pleasantries and I thought she was going to do it) (she even told me thank you for not trying to harm her business) (which I understood my mom is a business owner we've never had roaches.... but I can understand things happen) To be honest I love her food but bugs was literally in the gravy.. no telling how many I ate. And all I asked was a for a refund.

mashed potatoes and cornbread could use more flavor other than that pretty good food, try it sometime soon!

I have been going here for years and I used to love it. The past few times I have been, the food has been salty or vinegary. The guy at the front was really nice! But it doesn’t look like they clean in there regularly. The turnip greens taste good but I’m afraid they may be canned greens. That would be highly disappointing to go to a soul food restaurant and receive canned greens but I could be wrong. I hope they read these reviews and try to make a change because I would love to keep going back but I don’t want to waste my money. In conclusion, the guy at the front was awesome, please try to clean regularly and clean the POS system and please TASTE the food before serving it. Many blessings ❤️

Very disappointed! I paid right at 40$ for a baked chicken plate and a beef tip and rice plate and drink. Should have known from the rating and reviews that I saw. But I always like to try for myself. The food was definitely bland barely any seasonings on the beef tips nor chicken. Rice tasted watery and absolutely no salt was on it. The mash potatoes I had as a side taste like they scooped it right out the potato and plated it. No butter , milk, salt, pepper nothing. Just bland and starchy. I was suppose to have Mac n cheese on one of the plates but they decided to give me another scoop full of those mash potatoes instead🫠. I also had green beans and yams as sides. The green beans were the worst thing on the plate. I took one bite and tasted straight vinegar and sour taste and it was strong. I didn’t know if it’s how they seasoned it or if it was because it was old and recycled. The yams were the only decent thing on the plate. Everything was cold and you could tell it was cooked probably yesterday and served again today. Mind you I order at the beginning of lunch time. So the food should be at it’s freshest! I normally don’t write reviews even if the food isn’t that good but to have to throw away 40$ worth of food and absolutely nothing was fresh or seasoned hardly is upsetting.

I came out to get two plates chicken and dressing nasty .And macaroni was dry abs candy yams was garbage nasty food ever don't waste your time here !!

I had the fried chicken, Mac& cheese with cabbage and the key lime cake! Absolutely soulful!! Staff was extremely kind! Happy Resurrection Sunday! My family & I are coming back!

It was just a disappointment.

My first time.The food was trash and they charged me 42 dollars for a oxtail and ham plate. The food was bland and untasteful. I'll never be back. I should have went to zaties. And it was so nasty on the inside. Floor not moped tables sticky

Very pleasant experience! Very welcoming and the food was absolutely delicious. The ladies that was working was some of the sweetest ladies I’ve met! Definitely going back

I just had the fried chicken plate with okra and mac&cheese with bananapudding. All I can say is, wow, that was some delicious crispy chicken ? 10/10 ??
I dont leave restaurant reviews often, but this place deserves more recognition.
