We decided to try this place today and glad we did. The food was delicious and the staff was friendly. We ordered the Falafel Hummus Plater and Chicken Kabob Sandwich. Yummy!!!!

My partner and I attempted to stop by one night after they were closed—I came back a few days later to try and the owner recognized me and genuinely thanked me for coming back. I asked the girl working the front for a recommendation. I got the chicken shawarma wrap and it was amazing!! We will definitely be back. Super nice people and amazing food.

I had a Shawarma salad with chicken and steak. This is a smaller restaurant in an older building, with an authentic feel to it. Our cashier/server had a very kind and humble attitude. She brought our food to the table, and the food was fresh! My salad was delicious, without having to drown it in salad dressing. The chicken had good flavor! My wife ordered Chicken Mandi, and she had a plate FULL of rice and chicken! She basically had half a chicken! We stumbled upon Karam's while looking for a place close to the BJCC. I'm glad we found it!

Parking: You can park on the street and pay through the parking app, or pull in to their free parking.

Excellent little middle eastern place. Very much one of those hole in the walls that has some top notch food. I got this Egyptian pita sandwich with steak and the seasoning and spices on it were just perfect. Got to choose from a few bottles of sauce to go with it. My wife got the falafel sandwich and they were so well seasoned and not even close to dry in the least. If I didn't have to run out for a show, I definitely would have stayed for the desserts

One of the best falafel I ever had. The bread was different than normal pita. I wish the bread was made with whole wheat, not refined flour. Overall the food was good. We enjoyed it. We will certainly be back

there isnt a lot of halal places around here, so i came here just because it was halal. had the lamb platter, which was great. i wish they had buffalo wings as well, I was craving those for a long time. but anyways i enjoyed the food that i got.

Fake meat in lamb gyro salad. Vegetables are not fresh. The food quality overall is terrible.

Don’t understand why this place has high reviews. (Update, if you scroll way down, you’ll see a ton of reviews on here from the prior seemingly Greek restaurant, as there are reviews on a place called Marilyn’s that served Gyros. Therefore, there are a ton of high reviews that do not belong to this current Karam’s, and falsely brings the average review of this place up. It’s unfortunate that this place is benefiting off of former business reviews, and not giving accurate info for new prospective eaters, that may come just because it’s a high star). I give very honest reviews. Feel free to read any other of mine to see. There just was simply nothing good about this experience. Our food was not good. Food was as if it was bought in bulk in the frozen section from Sam’s Club or Costco, and then heated no differently than you’d do in your own home. Didn’t taste fresh, lacked flavor, wasn’t appealing at all. The French fries, the thing we’d least expect to be our favorite, was the only thing worth eating. The whole place was unclean, tables not wiped, stuff on the floor, just needed general attention to make it much better, and the bathrooms were even worse. Top this off with the fact that parking was either taking your chances in a side lot marked as a tow away, or find a meter on the street and pay, if you could even find a spot open. Was a very shady area, and the bars on all the doors/windows didn’t give us comfort in it being in a safe area. Almost always, I will give a place to eat a second chance, because they can have off days. This is one of the few, that will be on my “never try again” list.

Nice lil restaurant, nothing special. Food was good and my steak had great flavor. The inside of the building was older and outdated. The tea tasted like it had been sitting out a while.

I really liked the food. I got the chicken shawarma and fries. It was really good, different from other shawarma I've had, tender and flavorful. The bread was especially good, tasted homemade or possibly just warmed up. The fries were crispy and hot. I asked for a side of garlic sauce and got 4 different sauces, possibly two that came with the dish. They were all good. It was very reasonably priced, as well. I placed a to-go order and it was ready quickly. I'd definitely recommend! It's a great new Middle Eastern restaurant and per the menu the meat is also halal. They also have breakfast options, which I haven't tried, but is good to know.

It’s great to see more and more authentic international food restaurants opening in Birmingham. Karam’s restaurant delivers a large menu of authentic food options from the Levant area and Egypt. The presentation is very good and I’m looking forward to try the Arabic breakfast options next time. Room for improvement: Hummus taste was a bit bitter and could use some additional lemon to give it a more soury taste.

Don't pass this place up!Food was delicious. I ordered the falafel (big Mac of the middle east) and it was delicious. I ate it with their "house sauce " and washed it down with their sweet tea which is , no joke, the best tea in the city. The owners and staff are very nice . I didn't see the health score but the food and atmosphere had a clean vibe, and I did see staff cleaning. I'll definitely be eating here again!

We walked in here today while it was sprinkling and grey out and the roads all surrounding were closed off because of the world games. They were open, surprisingly, because there was hardly a soul around, but I’m so glad they were ! We ordered hummus and a falafel sandwich. We were the only customers in there just because of how bad the weather was and the streets being closed, but the people at the counter were nice. The food took a few minutes to come out, it’s not fast food, but it was pretty quick. It made me feel nice to know they were back there prepping our food fresh- I could literally see the steam from the fryer in the kitchen. The hummus was beautiful, creamy and rich in flavor, possibly the best I’ve ever had. The falafel sandwich was a regular size but stuffed full and dense with ingredients. I over-filled myself just finishing half of it, and my boyfriend had the other half. If you were very hungry you could finish one yourself, but it’s a serious sandwich! It had fresh tomato and cucumber on it and the falafel was warm, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside- so good. Definitely ask for their spicy sauce and their garlic sauce and put them both on your sandwich. It was delicious, me and my boyfriend were both stuffing our faces and “mmh”ing and “oh my gosh”ing while eating. Hands down the best Mediterranean food and falafel in Birmingham, and definitely some of the best I’ve ever had, period. The place is small and old-school inside, it’s not so much about the ambiance, it’s about the amazing food ! We will absolutely be coming back.

Unfortunately I found this place my last day in Birmingham. Their food is amazing! I enjoyed Beef & Lamb Egyptian Hawashi but there were several dishes that looked just as amazing. It's not far from the 16th Street Church and the Civil Rights Museum, so you can walk here after a visit there.
