Mugshots Grill and Bar - Birmingham, AL

My daughters and I stayed in Birmingham for the night before flying home to Texas the following day. We chose to eat at Mugshot's because it was just outside our hotel door. The food was good, but the service was special. Jade B. was our server and she went above and beyond what was expected of her. Even going out of her way to make sure my daughter's flight home wasn't ruined when she forgot her AirPods at our table once we were finished and heading out for the evening. When staying over in Birmingham during our travel's, we will be sure to go back to Mugshot's just for the pleasure of Jade being our server.

Update: we gave Mugshots in Birmingham another shot since we love the Mugshot back home. We had a much better experience. The food was great, the service was exceptional.

I think maybe I went on a bad day. I really wanted to enjoy the chicken Alfredo pasta, but it was just a little too greasy for me. Also there was numerous wet spots on the floor. Maybe from a roof leak? Not certain, but it was less than desirable.

Walked in at 3:25 PM. The host said that they do not sit customers during shift change. More customers kept walking in and backed up the walk way, therefore causing people to wait out in the cold. You get paid to stand there during shift change and do nothing? Staff just seems lazy as there were already other tables that were seated.

My family and I visited Mugshots expecting a pleasant dining experience, but we were left disappointed after waiting 20 minutes without being served. Despite our patience, no one came to take our order, so we finally approached one of the servers. She informed me that it was only 2 servers working; that had to do the bar as well. This only added to the confusion and lack of organization. This level of poor service is unacceptable for an establishment that prides itself on hospitality and with a bowl game in town. Clear communication and efficient service should be a priority to ensure guests feel valued and have an enjoyable experience while visiting the area.

We had a great visit to Mugshots. We were in town for the Birmingham Bowl. The food was great. I highly recommend the Bleu Buffalo Salad. Not an extensive list of beers on tap, but something for everyone.

The only complaint I have is that you have to pay to park. I hate going anywhere that you have to pay to park but nonetheless that has nothing to do with the taste, flavor, or quality of the food nor the service. Once we paid to park and walked to the restaurant there was no wait. We were seated immediately & shortly after our server came over & took our order. Then in no time she came back bringing with her one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. Delicious! & their onion rings are fantastic! Definitely a thumbs up from me.

This was the first Saturday we’ve came and it wasn’t crowded so of coarse I was expected Top Tier Service & Food. We waited at the host stand for 10
minutes before anyone acknowledged or sat us (usual for this location).That didn’t happen! Our server was Jada Smith she was attentive, friendly and proactive. She had a party of 10 which was giving her a very hard time but she stayed Graceful and polite. Let’s get to the Food Service (Horrible) As long as we waited it should have been Hot and fresh it wasn’t. They were out of PB & J but we weren’t told until after the food came out. I think the Owner NOT manger needs to have a team meeting on customer service and let his employees know whether your job description is server, cook, hostess customers should always be acknowledged there’s no things is that’s not my Job. I’ve been here numerous of times while the owner was present working along with his son that has more manners and work ethics than some employees. You shouldn’t have to have someone in higher positions to be present to do your Job. This is not my experience all the time I visit both locations but the Birmingham location is not my first choice, the hours of operation are just extended verses vestavia.

I’m honestly shocked by how bad my experience was at Mugshots. The website promised our food would be ready by 6:02, but when we got there, we were told it’d be another 10-15 minutes. Okay, delays happen, but after that it just went downhill.

We were seated right by the kitchen door, and yet, not a single employee acknowledged us after that initial interaction. We watched as others got attention, but we were ignored the whole time. It was frustrating, to say the least, and I couldn’t help but notice that we were the only Black people in the restaurant. The whole situation felt off, and honestly, it was hard not to feel like we were being overlooked on purpose.

When the food finally arrived, it was barely warm and the fried pickles were drenched in grease—just not appetizing at all. To top it off, they didn’t offer us napkins or any sort of apology for the wait. No attempt at making things right.

It was honestly just a really disappointing experience. Between the lack of attention and the poor food quality, it’s safe to say I won’t be coming back anytime soon.

The food was lukewarm. We waited in an empty restaurant to be seated for over 10 minutes without being greeted. It just not a place that I would ever visit again. No wow factors.

I waited about half an hour for 5 wing and onions rings. Ridiculous don’t care about the taste of the food now. I wish I could give it 0 stars.
