Munchie's on 5th Bar and Restaurant

I usually don't leave reviews, but my lunch here was awful. The boneless wings were fine which is why it's two stars instead of one. Sweet potato fries were soggy and flavorless except for the brown sugar poured on top which was way too sweet. The mozzarella sticks came with a pitiful amount of marinara sauce and tasted EXACTLY like shrimp. I genuinely don't know how you even get fried cheese to taste this much like shrimp. $8 mozzarella sticks that were completely inedible. Very disappointing because it looks like a cool spot, but I won't be coming here for food again.

Got there at 10:30 am but they wasn’t open until 11 am. When they did open the server wasn’t there yet so we had to wait 10 minutes. We had two waitress I guess one was training. They immediately got our drinks, I got a can pop and the other two had to go cups. The sampler was $20 👀👀👀 then we ordered two cheeseburgers, and the wing and catfish combo. Burgers was pretty good, catfish was a lil undercooked, chicken wings had a lot of blood in them prior to cooking so the meat was basically brown. The seasoning they put on the food after it’s fried was pretty good. So after two cheeseburgers, a wings and fish combo, and appetizer player our bill was $100?! But I paid it but it just didn’t make sense. Would I come back? Yes to see the atmosphere at night, but I would choose limited items!!

Thanks for the experience with me being from Chicago, but food was mediocre and service was basic!

This is my favorite restaurant!!! The food, atmosphere and the vibe...

Tonight was my first time being here in over a year and I'm very disappointed. My previous experience were good and the food was too. Tonight I paid $48 for one drink for my lady and three very small and flavorless wings. I can't waste damn near $50 for that.

This is the $20 sampler platter SLOP they thought we were about to eat. It was ice cold and looks a mess. The waiter was drunk and kept going back and forth outside disappearing. 0/10. Would NEVER return. Don’t waste y’all money

I’ve been a few times and my previous experiences were great but the experience I had today kinda ruined it for me. I get the boom boom shrimp all the time because they are so good but this time they didn’t cook the shrimp all the way so it was very mushy in the middle. The fried green tomatoes were bomb but I think the portion
size is a little small.

My only and biggest issue was with our waitress. She was really sweet and kind but I feel like she was a little shady when splitting the bill. She split everything on the handheld reader and just told us the total, and we paid with our cards and she didn’t offer a receipt, or have us sign anything which I thought was weird. I ask for a paper receipt and she printed one out and a gratuity was added to the bill to a party of 3. They might have signage saying that gratuity is added but I don’t remember seeing anything. I still think it’s a great place to get a late night snack but beware! To be honest I won’t be coming back.

Stop by there me and my husband ordered 2 wing plates and banana pudding the wings were soo freaking dried out the Mexican they have back there cooking he put hot fries on top of cold fries the banana pudding was just horrible I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN 🤮🤮

They took the tip from the food in the amount and then kept my change afterwards... very unprofessional but the place is a straight vibe

12/21/24 - our server was Sarah. She was great, friendly, checked in a few times, and could be seen cleaning up behind the bar when not with customers. Gratuity is included on the check and this is clearly stated on the menu at the top so good to know ahead of time. I got a beyond burger which was pretty good and then basic fries which I could have used either more seasoning or more salt. There was a very light sprinkle of seasoning in on them, just not enough. The fries were fresh, and hot though! We definitely want to come back for dinner and try out the bar.

The MOST concerning and disturbing to me was having a child running around and consistently being behind the bar. She was very under age and it seemed to be ok that she’s a minor being around alcohol. The food was good, but me working for the health department, was very disturbing for me to see what I saw.

I went for Sunday brunch. The food was great customer service was great. I had shrimp and grits and fried catfish. My catfish fillet was huge and seasoned and fried to perfection. It made up for the small portion of shrimp and grits you get. We also had a mimosa pitcher. I took away a star because just about every table outside was full and they only had one waitress so our food and water took a little while to come out. Also the mimosa pitcher is really small for $30 and you only get 5 shrimp in the shrimp and grits. I can see where parking can be a hassle but it's much better than most places in Avondale. Overall I enjoyed the experience and I would definitely go back.

Love the outdoor setup. Indoor area is a little cramped.
Parking is pretty good considering it is Avondale.

Now for the not so good:
Either we can't read, or their pricing is hella confusing. I don't understand how 5 whole wings can be $14.99 on the menu but ring up $25.99? What tax schedule are they using??
The catfish was also ringing up differently (thankfully lower) but my loaded fries were also higher. And over $3 for a 20 oz bottle is a bit much?? Is it just me?

Anyway, I would go again but definitely question the pricing (Our waitress had enough trouble with three card readers so at that point I was just ready to go)

I had a fantastic experience at Munchies on 5th! The service was quick and friendly, with the staff (Natasha and Sarah) going out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. My wife and I ordered the Philly Chicken Wrap, and it was amazing—juicy, flavorful chicken paired perfectly with fresh veggies and melted cheese. The wrap had just the right amount of seasoning, and the portion size was generous. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for great food and excellent service!
