So it's been about 5years since last visit. Today my guest was not feeling well. Weather cold. So we decided to come eat soup. Best decision ever. We both ordered large soup and half salad. I was telling my friend that I hope the soup was really hot just as a tray with 2 bowls of absolutely steaming bowls appeared. The salads were perfectly dressed. The soup I cannot say enough good things. My friend has had very poor appetite lately and he ate everything. This is what I appreciate so much. I almost got soup to go for him for today. The downtown UAB location is top notch. The manager greeted us at the counter and was helpful and knowledgeable about menu items and new specials.Even though the staff was involved in closing duties (an hour before) they were engaged with customers and not bothered to keep assisting with drinks, clearing tables, etc.This is a great location.We love Newk's and all the food!!!Salads, sandwiches, soups, pizzas - you won't go wrong.

Just for the cashier that was working this am, Feb 28th around 1030am-11am. Very rude. Wldnt look up from her phone. Acted like me&my wife was bothering her just by our presence. Finally got the food, still rude 4 whatever reason. Wished her to have a better day and jetted out. Hopefully she can find a job in a plant somewhere where she ain't gotta b bothered by customers. Will find out real quick how good she has it now, especially since I know 0 places that allow u to openly be on your phone while on the clock. Get better help.

They have obviously changed management, I had preordered a meal, and when I showed up to pick it up, someone had taken it off the shelf. They quickly remade the pizza and salad with an apology and free drink. Couldn't ask for them to do more. Good job guys. ?
I usually order pizza at Newk's,so I thought I would try the salad. I had the Greek and my friend had the Cobb. Both were fresh and portions were very generous.
I am not local to this area, but met my daughter to eat as she's attending UAB. They took my order immediately, recommended what was their favorite menu items, they were patient with me when I had forgotten my card in the car. The food was delicious! They were so sweet to my young son as well. I will definitely make a habit of eating here when I visit Birmingham!Kid-friendliness: They have a kids menu

This Newk's Eatery does not have the self service items that Newk's restaurants usually have. No roasted garlic, croutons, jalapenos, pickles cheese, etc. out to add to your soup, sandwich, salad, or pizza. The food and service were good except there was no roasted garlic. It makes a difference.
This one star rate is just for the cashier. I don't know what's her name, but I was there at Jan 25th, 8pm. Her behavior is terrible with customers. Keeps scrolling her phone.
