This place is a true gem. The injera bread was so soft and flavorful, and the lamb key wot was cooked to perfection. I also tried their sampler plate which gave me a taste of everything, and every bite was amazing. The staff made us feel so welcome from the moment we walked in.

We ordered a variety of items to try. Food was not good. I was excited about trying Ethiopian food the most. They were out of what I originally ordered (chicken doro wot), so I got the special chicken tibs. I notice no difference from that dish and mexican fajitas. The falafel was incredibly dry, very hard to swallow. The hummus had more oil than actual substance. The Key Sir dish was something I could have just made at home - boiled beets with salt. Salad had no dressing. Very disappointing and I get the impression that the food was in no way authentic.

I tried the Lamb Key Wot with Injera bread, and wow, the spices were spot on. The lamb was super tender, and the flavors were unlike anything I’ve had before. The staff made me feel like family. A true gem in the city.

I loved the deep rooted Ethiopian atmosphere of my experience. I've had the extreme pleasure of dining in Addis Ababa Ethiopia in 2009 the food there and the one in Birmingham were like two rays of light coming through the skyline where the food was equal. Im coming back to try their Dodo Wat and if you want to burst your taste buds with please try it. I challenge everyone to try Red Sea Mediterranean. I forgot to take photos but ill surely add here on my next visit back!

The fried plantains were golden perfection. Sweet and slightly crispy. I paired them with gumbo, and the flavors worked beautifully.
