Delicious. Should have asked for a spoon for my grits and to stir my coffee.

“There’s No Place Like Ruby Sunshine”
We stopped in at Ruby Sunshine for breakfast with the whole family — and by “whole family” I mean me, my wife, and three boys who eat like they’ve been working in a coal mine since 4 a.m. Let me just say — Ruby delivered.
Born out of the heartache of Katrina and inspired by Dorothy’s famous line from The Wizard of Oz, Ruby Sunshine proves that home isn't a place, it's where they serve you biscuits that make you emotional.
The food? Delicious. Southern. Real.
The prices? So reasonable I briefly considered moving in.
The staff? So friendly I half-expected them to hug us goodbye and offer to babysit.
Our boys had more than enough to eat — which never happens. I’ve seen them defeat all-you-can-eat buffets like a food-based video game. But here? Full bellies and happy faces. Even the syrup got a compliment from my 7-year-old, and he's usually too busy sword-fighting with a fork to notice flavor.
If you’re in Birmingham and looking for breakfast that feels like a warm hug from your Southern grandma (even if you’re from Detroit), Ruby Sunshine is your spot.
Our server was nice.
Super friendly staff! Very attentive! Definitely a must try! Food is Delicious!
My server was Kaylee and she was absolutely amazing. Great personality and went above and beyond for her customers. She made you feel the love from the moment you walked in the door. My next visit I hope she’s working because this was my first experience here and she made it great.
Good food good service. What else can I ask for?
Tyler C is always the best!!! He takes great care of us each time and has the best customer service.
I have been here a few times for breakfast, but it can be a bit noisy for me when it is busy and the food really isn't all that great for the price. The wait staff is efficient and pleasant and do their best to make up for the quality of food, but it is not a regular place with me. More of a local hang-out I guess. Sorry.
Very good, one of the most delicious Ruby Sunshine's out there. You might only want to order a biscuit on Saturday or Sunday though.
Seated right away and after sitting for more than 10 minutes still no server. Went to inquire at hostess stand there were 6 people just standing there. We were then told that they would notify our server. Not one person offered to even take our drink order. At this point we wait another 2 minutes before just deciding to leave and go somewhere else. If this is the future of service we are better off just eating at home. Doubt we’ll be back.

I finally got to try Ruby Sunshine for breakfast after hearing so much about it!🙌 While I had to send the biscuit back a few times because it wasn't quite right, the rest of the food was promising. 😁The grits needed a bit more heat, but the fish was perfectly hot and delicious. I would have loved a larger portion, but overall, I enjoyed my meal. Despite a few hiccups, I'm excited to return and explore more of their menu!👍
