I'm not sure how or why this place is considered nice or fancy. Not even sure why the prices are what they are.
Came here on a Friday at 8pm, its super cramped, loud, very bright. Olive garden or chillis gives a better ambiance for 1/3 the price.

I ordered a long island, it took 13 minutes to get my drink and the glass I was served was broken. I asked for a new glass and it took another 12. 25 min to get 1 drink lol.

I ordered the beef tenderloin medium well, it was barely medium rare. Fine I'll bring it home and finish cooking it tomorrow for lunch. My wife is vegetarian and got the vegetable plate. Everything was bland and flavorless.

139 dollars and we both left disappointed and ripped off. We can confidently file this one under not going back.

I just got back from my first visit to Satterfield's. My family booked a private room to celebrate my uncle's 80th birthday; I was unsure what to expect from a place so far above my usual haunts. What I got was a friendly, family atmosphere and fantastic food.

Our majordomo for the evening was Kenneth, and it seemed like he was everywhere at once taking care of our enormous group. All the orders were delivered with precision, and he never let my glass of sweet tea get too low even though I drink like a camel. He was quick with answers to questions my aunt had about the food. I'm sure the rest of the staff maintains a similar level of service, but if you draw Kenneth for your table, you're in good hands.

For starters, we had the usual bread and corn muffins-- absolutely fantastic-- along with fried okra and cheese plates. Everything was absolutely delicious, although I think I was the only blue cheese aficionado in the group. I would've wolfed down every wedge on the table (and would've paid for it later) but I knew I had something good coming for my main.

Most of the party tried the shrimp and grits or the redfish that was on the menu tonight, and everyone loved both dishes. The shoestring French fries were a popular addon as well, and my cousin tried the gazpacho soup (after we explained that yes, it's not supposed to be piping hot). One of our party ordered the pork chop and it was enormous and looked fantastic.

For myself, I did what I always do when I try a restaurant for the first time, I ordered something simple. I like to start with a dish where the skill of the chef is going to be front and center, so I picked the vegetable platter. And it did not disappoint. Oftentimes restaurants will just drown their vegetables in butter and salt to appeal to the palate, but everything was spiced and sauced with a careful hand. Asparagus spears and greens were hearty and earthy; the new potatoes and grilled zuchini were savory and balanced nicely with wilted spinach in a citrusy sauce. The highlights were definitely the corn and roasted tomatoes, which tasted like they'd just come out of the field that morning. All of this was served around a bowl of their wonderful grits, and I cleaned my plate.

Dessert for the evening was a birthday cake, so I wasn't able to try the beignets that Satterfield's is so famous for. I nearly asked for a to-go order. Next time.

I don't know when I might get to return to Satterfield's in the future, but I know when I do I'll enjoy the trip.

Fabulous 🥂! The bartender Katleen made it so fun for us. The food was wonderful. Highly recommended.
PS. We loved that they don’t screw you over on drinks …. As many other restaurants in BHM do these days.

This was my first visit, and the atmosphere was incredibly pleasant. I highly recommend making a reservation—we were lucky there was an available table with no wait. Every dish we tried was delicious, though the portions were a bit on the smaller side. Our server, Danielle, was kind, attentive, and made the experience even more enjoyable. This is definitely a great spot for a date night, and I would absolutely recommend it :)

We came Monday night to celebrate my boyfriends birthday with his parents and had Abby as our server, she was awesome and took such good care of us! The food was also great, they do an exceptional veggie plate.

Satterfield's stands out as a unique, highly recommended place for special occasions. I have a long list of dietary restrictions, due to food sensitivities . We call in advance, give them the list, and they work around them to ensure I have a good meal and no negative after effects. The service is top notch and the food delicious. Valet parking is required due to limited parking space. For us, the price is worth it. It is one of the very few places I can go out to eat in the Birmingham area. 5 stars, no question.

We went for our anniversary. I had a pork chop that was the best I've ever had. Portion was very generous. Drinks, clam soup, and a lemon sorbet were all well-balanced and delicious. The only possible thing I could point out is it looks like it's probably time for a minor update to the decor. A fresh coat of paint might go a long way.
I highly recommend Satterfield's for a special occasion. It's not cheap but it was worth what we got.

I dont understand giving an honest review of a restaurant we frequent SATTERFIELDS RESTAURANT (3161 Cahaba Heights Rd, Birmingham, AL 35243) and they literally blocked me on Facebook! Went to look at their daily menu, that's how we found out.

I dont understand?! Frequent customers give a review and get blocked! Kind of speaks volumes...

We went there for an anniversary dinner. Fried okra appetizer was good, hot and crisp. The salads were delicious. Our entrees were disappointing. My husband had trout, which was so salty it was nearly inedible. My beef tenderloin was ordered medium rare and came out medium well, barely any pink. The server agreed it was not medium rare. The second time around it was cooked perfectly and was delicious, but my husband had finished eating before my entree was returned. If he had waited on me, his meal would have been cold. They did comp us one piece of delicious cheesecake. The wine was good and the service was good, but we won’t be back for another less than awesome $250 meal.
