Late lunch yesterday. Fried shrimp dinner and grilled seafood platter. The shrimp on the fried shrimp dinner looked and tasted like frozen shrimp from the grocery store. Grilled fish on platter was pretty much raw. Still cold, COLD!, in the middle of both pieces. Hush puppies over cooked! Rocks! Baked potatoes hard in the middle. Sticks in my craw when I have to ask for tea refill. I don't know what difference it would make but we were there between lunch crowd and dinner. Have eaten there many times over the years and have never been disappointed in a meal like this time. 280 location. If we try again will go back to Southside restaurant.

Visited a couple of times this year and the food doesn't seem to be on par with what it once was.

The fish market is one of our all time favorite restaurants, my favorite is the Greek salad West Indies salad. All of the fish dishes are great. We order from door dash and grub hub and 95% of the time the order is right and the food is always consistent. My wife loves the shrimp pasta. My mother used to always get the bam bam shrimp. You can’t go wrong eating here

First of all, the service at the front desk where you order your food is funny, do to the fact the food is not seasoned and they do not offer that knowledge to you.Second the reasoning for a 10 party verses a six party is unreal, 6 party had a waiter party of 10 did not, reason because of the check was one for the party of 6 and 4 for the party of 10.Management was not a big help at all. It will be a long time before I travel and visit the Southside Fish Market.

Came in for the first time last weekend and it was a very pleasant experience. This is a large restaurant/fish market/market in general, so there's a ton of seating and space for everyone. They only make reservations for parties above 10, I believe, so it's a great place to stop by if you happen to be in Southside in Birmingham. We had dinner and it was a very pleasant meal from start to finish. The appetizer highlight was the Oysters Dino-Style, which are a Greek-style oyster dish which has some of the same qualities as oysters rockefeller but with a much more distinctive addition of garlic and roasted red peppers. It creates almost an oyster parm, if you can imagine your classic chicken parm with the barest and perfect hint of a salty ocean. You really have to try them. The mains were good and fairly reasonably priced. We had everything grilled, rather than fried, so I can't speak to the fry quality, but the grilled flounder was excellent (best thing we had). The spice choices were very good for the flounder but I admit I was a little disappointed that basically every fish we ordered (we got Gulf red snapper and a combo plate of flounder and sea scallops) had the exact same spice mixture uses to create some crust. If I had known that, I would have thrown some fried items in there. Also, the sear on the scallops was not good, sadly. They came out sort of damp and somewhat undercooked. I think sear on a scallop is hugely important and this, especially with the upcharge for scallops, was a problem for me. I can recommend the Greek potatoes as a side which are sort of grilled and smashed with a ton of onions. Really lovely. I was less thrilled about the Greek rice, which was unremarkable, and the slaw, which wasn't even dressed. It was just shredded raw cabbage. Again, perhaps I'm missing something in the construction of these dishes, but it seemed a little underwhelming. Overall, very much worth your time. I might try them for lunch sometime, as they have a 13.95 lunch special. But will definitely try again for dinner and work in some fried items this time.

The Fries were not fresh. Hard and shrunken. The Mahi-mahi although said on menu was caught fresh. Looked like a fhish stick. The server was great. Kind of on the fence about the dinner.

I am a big fan of the Fish Market restaurant located in downtown Birmingham but this location is just not as good. The food at this location has missed the mark comparatively but is still good. Service was good and wait was not bad at all for a Friday evening.

Agh. Its not bad but it isn't great. I decided on some of the specials and the angel oysters. I asked the waitress if the clam chowder was worth it, she didn't eat shellfish so this was without recommendation. If you are asking yourself if the clam chowder is worth it, the answer for me is no. I'm personally not a fan. The frog legs are a good size and the batter is seasoned well. The frog legs themselves are not so it throws them off a bit. The oysters were fine. Honestly every other place in town has a better version of these but they aren't bad. My server was very kind and the place is a buzz with families on a Sunday afternoon.
