We visit The Refinery every time we come to Birmingham. Excellent selection of whatever floats your boat, and a fantastic cocktail program. Great food options as well. I really like starting with the truffle fries - good way to snack for a bit with a nice drink before getting into the meal.
But the best part of this place is the atmosphere. It's cozy without being cramped, perfect for striking up a conversation with those around you or sitting back and watching a game on one of their three large screens. And the staff is top notch - attentive, knowledgeable, and gracious. Notably the staff all have a very good rapport with each other, which I find is often a key element in creating a good vibe.

The Refinery is an absolute gem! The food is good, and the ambiance is so warm & welcoming. Dimly lit w/ music playing & sports on the TVs while we eat. Even the simplest thing, like the caprese salad, so yummy. PS: Look for Andy! He makes the best tasting drinks I’ve ever had.

Great place but the Bartenders were hung over and couldn’t concentrate they messed up my girlfriends food, did not refill my drink, I had to repeat everything 3 times before they could comprehend what I was saying. Fries suck !! Service sucks! Get some sleep please. Don’t party so hard the night before. It’s not only good for your health but also good for business.
