The atmosphere was nice but to me the food choices weren't idea ...I couldn't really get into a dish that I felt would feed the soul our waiter was knowledgeable on what I was looking for and suggested some things to try but I was hungry hungry and wanted food not just appetizers .I would return maybe for some drinks i didn't get to try anything becuase I was looking at everything

Good was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend the Conecuh crawfish pasta… service was extraordinary! Elle, Alivia and Kinley took care of us over the weekend and they were all so incredibly sweet and helpful!!!

This is an amazing restaurant! The ambiance is exactly what you would expect by the name and the menu is icing on the cake. My go-to meal is Shrimp and Grits. I've ordered them at seafood chain restaurants and high end small business seafood restaurants and none can compare. I think the gouda cheese is what makes it so tasty. I was so impressed that I ordered another meal to go for the next day! The blueberry cheesecake was delicious! I lost my mind in there. Ive never ate that much but being in Birmingham was my excuse to cheat! If I travel to the area again, I'll definitely stop by any try a few more items.

I recently dined in for lunch at the Birmingham Al location on 9/21 a Sunday downtown The Southern and was told that there was no carbonation and that it runs on one line only for the bar area. The waitress was rude about it saying that the whole restaurant runs on only one C02 machine. Her name is Ashley SShe’s the light skinned woman with a short curly hair and where’s glasses They said Coca Cola one gives them one CO2 Machine this a building that host a bar, outside seating and inside seating up to 300 bodies in a facility . With owning my own restaurant in Bessemer I know this is in accurate

The Southern Kitchen and Bar is fantastic! The food is fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked, with a great mix of classic southern dishes and creative twists. Dining feels hearty, authentic, and memorable

I would love to rate this restaurant 5 stars because what went really well went really well. Our server was great. Our food was excellent. We had several appetizers as well as entrees and cocktails. Everything was good.

However the seating policies are insane. First we were a party of 5. Only two of us were there so it makes sense you may not be able to seat us. Instead we were told we can’t sit you at a booth until everyone is present but we can sit you at the bar tables and pull another chair over. So let me get this straight. You couldn’t sit me immediately, but you can? So fine, we will wait. We put our name on the list. Enter the phone number and told it will be about 30 minutes. 50 minutes later I go to check and see where we are and there is a party of 2, a party of 3 sat at the booths when there were tables that could accommodate those parties and my party had not been seated. So while I am waiting, a larger party than mine is seated without their entire party being there. Make it make sense. I get that you have policies in place but what wasn’t making any sense is you were selectively enforcing them. Inconsistency is worse than downright poor service.

I had the shrimp and grits with a smoked old fashioned and it was amazing . My waiter was amazing and wish I could remember his name so I could give him a shout out. My only complaint is although that was one of the better old fashions I have had I do this the drinks was a bit over priced.
