Best pizza in Birmingham, in my opinion! Keep in mind that Deep Dish pizza takes 30-45 minutes to cook, so go early, and order a salad or garlic cheese bread to hold you over. It's worth the wait! They do single slices, too, but, that's not why we went. The friendly service, the nostalgia hanging on the walls and sitting on shelves give you plenty to look at while you wait. The cheese pull is glorious on the cheese bread, and also the deep dish! My boys ate the cheese bread too fast to get a picture, but, I did snag a picture of the deep dish pizza! We ordered the 12" Deep Dish with Pepperoni & Sausage (they said for 4-5 people). We had 2 adults & a 16-year old boy, and had 2 slices to go home. I guarantee those won't last though until midnight!
My wife and I shared the antipasto salad and it was really simple but good. We also had the traditional deep dish. Pizza was amazing. Atmosphere was great. Clean dining room and great sports memorabilia. Our server Parker was on point. He was super attentive and displayed professionalism and manors. We will definitely visit here again and would highly recommend visiting here if your in the area.

I’m not a huge fan of the deep dish pizza, but it’s not the only pizza they have! The thin crust pizza at this place is amazing, best pizza in Birmingham!

Very interesting restaurant. The inside is covered with Chicago sports memorabilia and of course turtles. We had a cheese and vegetarian 10" deep dish and the cheese was better in my opinion. The vegetarian just had too much juice and it ended up being wet. That being said both were delicious. The 10" was a little more than I can comfortably eat in one sitting about the same as a 23" thin pie. I called ahead of time and asked them to cook the pizzas early so they would be ready when we arrived and they had no problem with that. Great experience.
Dietary restrictions: If you are dairy sensitive I don't think this is the place for you.
Kid-friendliness: They serve pizza by the slice.

We trusted the reviews on google and this place did NOT disappoint! So good 🤤
Angry, Frustrated, Disappointed... these are the only terms that come to mind with this experience. I don't typically write emotional laden reviews, but this was the single WORST experience I've had at a restaurant. We arrived at 5:37 p.m. on Oct. 12th. We were promptly seated and our waitress SEEMED attentive, but this was only a facade. My family sat in the booth until 6:40 p.m. before our server even came to check on us. At this point, we had no food and were close to walking out. An HOUR! An HOUR had passed and not even so much as a follow up with us. When our waitress finally did arrive, she explained they were busy and it would be about 5 more minutes. She also told us this same excuse at 6:47 p.m. and at 6:53 p.m. Another employee brought us complimentary bread and sauce at 6:55 p.m. No apologies, no admission of mistakes, not a single remorseful or apologetic word was spoken. We received our food at 6:57 p.m. That's right, we received our food approx. an HOUR AND 20 MINUTES after placing our order. To make matters worse, a family behind us who arrived 35 minutes after us received their food 15 minutes later. It was clear this restaurant forgot about us and these people didn't want to admit fault with the oversight. I'm not sure if this restaurant offers refills on drinks, but you would have thought this wunderkind of a server would have at least checked on us, offered a refill, or even explained she would follow up with the order. When I went to pay, everyone at the front saw me and you could see the fear in their eyes. They knew they had screwed up, but not a single solitary soul would admit fault for this abysmal experience. Not even a single "We're sorry for the inconvenience." What compounds the issue... I had small children who were saints for enduring this hellish nightmare of a dining experience. I completely understand this restaurant is under new management, but if this is what we should come to expect with their standard operations - I would warn people to keep driving and not pay it a second glance. We enjoyed this place prior to the management change, and it is a shame that we will NEVER be back to this nightmare of an establishment again. As for the waitress, I hope she has another career to fall back on, because she is a horrendous server.

Really delicious, Chicago style deep-dish pizza! This is my wife's favorite food. We buy the large and she'll have it for three meals in a row. Fresh sauce, loads of cheese, and lots of crispy crust. Ridiculously good!

We searched “pizza in Hoover” on Google and found Tortugas. This place is phenomenal! The service was fantastic and friendly staff as well. The pizza is amazing here. My wife got a regular style pizza and I got the Chicago style deep dish pizza. I’m telling you there is not a better place in the Birmingham area for Chicago style deep dish pizza. Fantastic pizza place!
