University Tacos - University Blvd

Went here with my mom and the food was amazing!! Genuinely was probably some of the best queso I have ever had, which surprised me as usually I like it better with peppers in it. Customer service was great and the food got to my table in very little time. I came around 8:00 or a Thursday so it wasn’t busy at all. Just us and one other table. I ordered the California burrito and it was a bit smaller than I expected but very filling Nonetheless, the fries in the burrito were somehow crispy even though the burrito itself was juicy. The guacamole was amazing and the steak was cooked great. Overall just a 10/10 California burrito. My mom ordered the ground beef taco salad, I managed to steal a bite and it was also amazing! You could tell with every bite of the food that this was authentic homemade Mexican food. Genuinely just an amazing experience. Great food. Nice people. I would rate it 6 stars if I could!!

At $4.50 a taco the so called flavor wasn’t a part of the visit! The food literally has not flavor, and at $47.13 for 4 tacos and a taco salad with drinks is INSANE! I had to use my own taco sauce just boost it up! The place was super clean but the total price along with no flavor was a first and last! You’d come out better with a street vendor!

The food was awful! I usually go to the other Birmingham location. I had a beef burrito and it was nasty. I will not be going back to this nasty dirty place

I was on jury duty and wanted something tasty and filling for my lunch... boy did I go to the wrong shop! I got a burrito with ground beef and black beans... bland, blander, BLANDEST! The food had no real flavour and the salsa was watery and, you guessed it BLAND! The highlight was a cold Jarritos Mandarin. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

I feel more than compelled coming back to edit and add onto this review, now with quite a few more taco encounters at other restaurants behind me. This place is seriously good. Good, as in craving-worthy while across state lines. In fact, it’s been a little ridiculous how often I find myself wishing I could have my usual order from University Tacos, sitting here in Atlanta. I might as well be fully honest and say that this is probably one of the only things that I look forward to whenever I have to come back to Alabama. It’s simple, but I truly appreciate how you can order basic, authentic onion-and-cilantro style tacos with (non-fried) shrimp and fish as the protein. No crema. No five billion toppings. Nothing crazy. Baja-style fish tacos are cool, too, don’t get me wrong, but you better believe that this place has mastered simplicity into something so wonderfully wholesome. The shrimp and fish are seasoned to perfection (and so generous in portion). The corn tortillas always have the perfect texture and subtle masa taste. I wish more taco joints would take note; don’t forget the simple taco styles!

Food aside, the service is always lovely. Prices are perfectly reasonable, and of course, they never forget the complementary chips and salsa with every order. ❤️

One of our most favorite stops to make when we have to visit UAB hospital. The variety of taco and burritos and other various of Mexican food is awesome. The staff is always wonderful.

We came here for aome breakfast tacos. We were disappointed with them. The corn tortillas were meh and inwish there had been more eggs inside. They seemed to be a bit greasy for what i like as well
