Beau and Jackson filled my every need and drink request! I highly recommend this bar if you are ever in town!

This bar doesn't care about its patrons. I was assaulted by some drunk nitwit and he was escorted out for his safety before I could get his identity. It's not a safe place.

Pretty dope spot, $5 membership fee, pool tables. The bartender was on top of everything.

This is an "if you know, you know" place. It's in an alleyway down two sets of stairs that smell like they use a scrub and an antibiotic. The bar is spacious and has a neat vibe, graffiti walls, vending machine, pool tables, interesting decor... Definitely, worth a visit. Jackson was our bartender. Awesome guy!

A nice basement bar hidden away in Five Points. A game of pool will only cost you a dollar in quarters. The bartenders are pretty attentive and will get to you quickly. If you forget to bring quarters, they can hook you up. I just want to know how to play whatever game that weird tiny pool table is.

Never been to a dive bar, but if they're anything like this place then I'm sold. The Upside Down Plaza has it all -- pool tables, a pinball machine, a vending machine, and cheap drinks of course. The bartender was very friendly and helped me pick out some good beverages as a new drinker. Met a few interesting folks while I was there with some friends and really enjoyed the atmosphere. Watch your step going down and ESPECIALLY as you go back up.

We only spent 1 night in Birmingham and we wanted to play pool. We picked this place because it looked kinda cool on the website. The bartender was awesome, and it was busy! Also they stay open until people leave... We left around 4 am I think. Otherwise the place is kinda gross. The valley pool tables aren't taken care of. Sticky felt with drink stains on all them. And it's a basement bar so it smells funky. Also be prepared to pay $5 for a membership. I guess that's an Alabama thing. We had a great time, we didn't mind the seedy dive bar scene.

Lovely spot in Birmingham for a late night drink, round of pool or Monday night karaoke. Maxwell is a killer bartender and an absolute sweetheart.

My personal fav spot in Birmingham l. Rarely a "cover" if ever. Drink prices can't be beat. Laid back atmosphere, and pool tables nicely spaced!

Wasn't even upside down. How does a place that advertises that it's upside down not make me fall up? They didn't even have a demigorgon.

Maxwell is my all time fav bartender Everyone else is cool too but when we see him we know we're gonna have a good night

I've always loved this bar. After moving to Alabama from Michigan this place makes me feel welcomed and I can always count on my trip there being a good one. The drinks are cheap (but good), I love getting to pick the music, and the pool tables are great too. The bartenders are super nice! Shout out to Max who always recommends some delicious drinks and always has a smile on his face. Definitely recommend this bar!!

the upside down plaza is my favorite place in the whole entire world. the bartenders here are admirable people and i respect them highly for how well they treat their customers and each other given the situations thrown at them. without mister maxwell, mister david, miss skilla, mister chris, miss anna, or mister jackson i would not be coming to the plaza. they have had my back more than once and make me feel safe and at home. i know nothing bad would ever happen to me there because they are genuinely good people with good intentions. i <3 the plazie!!!!!
