“All the five star reviews are correct. Do stop here on the way to Florida. We sampled shrimp and fish baskets for lunch. There were plenty of food and it was served hot! The small salad was good too. And the prices were reasonable”
“Our favorite place to dine! Such a family friendly, local spot with the best service and even better food! I have been dining there since I was just a kid with my own parents and I have never had a bad experience even once! Plus the prices are unbeatable!Kid-friendliness: Staff is so friendly and great interacting with the kids, especially on birthdays!”
“We have been here several times and it is one of the better restaurant options available here in Brewton, AL. We drove up from Pensacola to go hunting with H.S.'s family for the weekend. The food here at El Ray turned out to be better than the hunting this weekend. It's called "hunting for a reason" as the old worn out saying goes... We joined H.S.'s brother's family who were already seated and eating their chips, salsa and queso. We got another order of queso and dove in. The service was great, even on this Friday night, but it also wasn't too busy. It was storming and that may have kept the crowd down a bit. The salsa, chips and queso were delicious. The queso being the classic queso blanco and the salsa also was the classic red salsa. Both are very typical for us here in the deep South. I ordered the Burrito Supreme with beef and H.S. ordered the California Burrito with shrimp. She routinely out orders me and she did so again. Mine was really good. Hers was great! I wasn't thinking when I ordered the beef. I was thinking it would be steak (I know better) and it was ground taco meat. I was just trying to hurry. Hers with the shrimp and all the light fillings was more what I was looking for. It is probably hard to imagine for a lot of you that a burrito can be light but it can be done. Tacos El Fluffy in Pensacola sure does! Down the table from me my brother and sister in-law shared the Molcajete which looks like a hot mess but they love it. It is basically a giant bowl full of steak and chicken strips, shrimp, chorizo, frijoles charros, onions, cactus, and Mexican cheese. It is then served with tortillas. Think fajitas on steroids. El Ray is a good option in Brewton for a good meal. It is a bit of a surprise that such a good mexican restaurant exists here but there it sits. There have been some significant changes to the menu as they learned the tastes of small town America. Not surprising is the absence of menudo soup (tastes and smells like a barnyard that needs to be shoveled) and ceviche from the menu now. I am not saddened by the loss of the menudo. -B-”
“Really good food especially on their Friday night seafood buffet. Amazing fried shrimp and fish. 1 cluster of crab legs and a whole bbq section with ribs, chicken, brisket, pulled pork, sausage and many more options with a salad bar all for only $24! Crazy cheap and crazy good. The atmosphere is awesome inside I only rated it a four star because of the crazy cats that are outside.”
“Everything is good here.I recommend the Sushi, General Tso, Honey, and Black Pepper chicken paired with Sweet Sour Chicken + Sweet Sour Sauce, and either Hot and Sour Soup and/or Egg drop soup.- Christian "Snow Leopard" Wright, March 26th 2024”
“I was so impressed with my food today! Between my boyfriend and myself, I think we tried most everything they had available on the buffet. We both finished everything and were so impressed with the quality of the food. Our waitress was the best and helpful. I will definitely be back!”
“Had no idea about this place but the frequency of cars through the drive thru was a giveaway that this place must be popular. We went inside with our three kids and the food was so incredibly delicious, the picture perfect small town restaurant that everyone who knows goes to.”
“The newer the people get the better it is. I do work here but the atmosphere is really great at points. When I'm not, I'll come in here and there's for a blackend chicken sandwich or thier blackened tenders. The lemonade is also good along with the Cajun rice and red beans. Lovebthe sandwiches and ”
“Food was cooked well, but didn't have enough seasoning for me. I prefer that found in New England Chinese Restaurants to those in the South. I like more spices. The restaurant is typical of Chinese Restaurants in the South.”
“This was my first time grabbing coffee from this stand and it was down right refreshing!! Great experience and the lady even mentioned how good my perfume smelled!!”
“Catlyn was wonderful. I've ordered from this place before and was not impressed. She made coming back nice. We ordered the bowls. They were as good as the service this time”

“Me and my wife stop here while in Brewton. It’s a very well kept eatery. The manager is very nice and always remembers us which is interesting since they see so many different faces every day. The service is fast and they are very friendly. The bathrooms are well maintained and if you have read my reviews a. clean bathroom is taken into consideration for the review. I’m sorry I didn’t take pictures but I will add them at a later date. Stop in and say hi! The fish sandwich is good and don’t forget the Cherry turnovers! They’re good but hot!”
“Whataburger took a while to prepare our order. It had to be fresh. Child... after eating that burger, I craved one for the next week. What mighty addictive concoction was this burger laced with? The meat was fresh and seasoned well. It held its own without any added condiments. The lettuce, tomato, pickles and onions only served to accent the fabulous burger. Delicious! When I go south, again, I'm getting one of their burgers. I can do without the fries. The onion rings were tasty. I'll be back!”
“I saw Drexel and Honeybees on MSNBC. They did a great segment on the restaurant, its mission and its owners. God bless Fred and Lisa McMillan for dedicating their lives to help those in need. Using their own retirement income and time to dedicate to others who so inspiring. Think of a world full of Lisa's and Freddy's. What a wonderful place to be.”
