Cracker Barrel Old Country Store

We had an hour wait before our breakfast was served. Our orders were incomplete and/ or incorrect. We had get our own silverware after breakfast was served. The bacon was soggy but the hash brown casserole was ok. Eggs were not cooked completely, egg whites were raw. One order included hash brown casserole but was given tater tots instead. She ate one of them. Another order was for the "make your own breakfast". The biscuits and gravy was totally omitted, however, gravy was brought to the table upon inquiry. Having made gravy the day before, the taste of my gravy was still fresh in my memory and this gravy was very bland and lumpy in comparison. It also had a thick skin on top but at least it was lukewarm. No biscuits were ever brought to complete this order, but we did get 4 containers of jelly for 3 people. The gravy was so thick you could eat it with a fork. It would have been good in the chicken and dumplings I got a year ago that consisted of 5 or 6 lonely dumplings in a light milky, watery soup, there was no chicken. I will never eat chicken and dumplings there again. For $12 bucks I could have bought a chicken at Sams Club, frozen dumplings at Walmart or a bag of flour, a can of cream of celery soup and with a few spices, make my own that tastes 100 times better and last for a few days. I was really disappointed in this visit as I had hoped the disappointing "chicken & dumpling" visit was just a one time thing and Cracker Barrel would be redeemed. I'll try again in a year or so.

My sister and I did our girls day out today, we had lunch at Cracker Barrel in Calera, we are giving a huge shout out for our server Crisco M !! The food was delicious but Crisco made our visit so very pleasant with her smile , friendly attitude, and her eagerness to accommodate in every way possible. Hope everyone enjoys their visit as much as we did!!

Service was slower than others. Waitress was almost rude and somewhat inattentive. Sides were cold e.g. mashed potatoes with gravy and turnip greens tasted like they came directly from can. Check took forever while waitress jawed with two other tables. Hostess was sweet and sat us immediately. Atmosphere was what you would expect.
