The service was not good at all. They set us down pretty fast and took our drink order but took 30 minutes to get our drinks. Took us almost a hour to get my husband and son food it did take an hour to get my food. I order the chicken finger snack and fries with BBQ sauce. My son wanted honey mustard and when he got it is was expired. There was only 1 bottle ketchup they passed around to the tables. There was a party of about 15 people and then a party of 2 then our party that had 3 people. That was all that was in there. Had to wait on togo boxes and then my husband had to walk up to the front to pay for it. I walked out to the car by then because if I would have stayed in there I would have refused to pay for my food because I did not eat it. The fires was hot but not all the way done the chicken finger did not have any flavor to them. I will not be going back. Plus they had people walk in and place orders that was getting there food before we did.

Screaming all the way from The Historic Town of Hobson City AL, THANK YOU! Today was my first experience at The Velvet Spoon. The Mayor and I stopped here on the way home for some soul food and I must say this is the BEST soul food away from home! They young lady at the front desk was so pleasant and everything was done in a timely manner. God Bless you all and we will certainly be back!

First time here and must say the service was awesome. Immediately seated, less than 10 minute wait after ordering and the food was amazing. Give the fried chicken, cabbage, corn and yams a try. You will not be disappointed. Will be going back soon. Highly recommend!

Best food in the city hands down, but the service is horrible, I went in on Friday during my break to get lunch. I ordered neck bones Mac and cabbage I set in the waiting area for an hour exact I know it usually takes 15-20 mins for your order to be done. Nobody checked on me so I proceeded to ask the waiter with the glasses is there something wrong and when she asked the guys in the back they said they made it already and she gave my food away then she asked the guys to fix it again which at this point I’m just hungry and ready to go because I set in there my entire lunch break just so she can tell me they’re out of the things I ordered I was pissed and demanded refund and left I want to go back for the food but can’t get passed the service and this was the second time this happened to me at this restaurant only calling in for now on because I do like the food

The food was delicious and well packaged. It had a clean atmosphere and friendly owner and staff. I eat there weekly and enjoy the neck bones, pork chops, chitterlings, meatloaf, and much more. All vegetables and desserts are delectable!

This place was sooooo good!when I first walked in they made me and my husband feel very welcome!when I tell you they got the best soul food I ever had!somebody grandmother definitely put her foot in it! lol but no seriously everyone in that kitchen deserves a raised lol!!please try it out if you in the Tuscaloosa area you want be disappointed!
