Buenavista Mexican Cantina (Cullman)

Apparently they close at 8:30pm on week nights. I don't recommend going in anytime after 8:00pm, the host will inform you they are closing and won't seat you and look frustrated when she has to get up out of her chair. La Patron welcomed us and we had a great time.

We went to celebrate our 31st anniversary ❤️
It was our first time there. It will most definitely will not be our last. The food and service were amazing 👏.

Ate lunch there,we were seated immediately, the chips were hot and fresh. The order was served quickly and it was also hot,like it was just made. The food was very good and the waitress did a great job.

I was traveling through with my 5 year old and chose this place because we don’t eat dairy or meat - so Mexican is usually easy enough.

I get us bean burritos, avocado and rice.

However this experience went poorly.

For starters, my waiter didn’t seem to understand me.

I tried asking for some red chili sauce on the side (for my burrito) but he said they didn’t have red sauce.

I thought to myself “what kind of Mexican food place doesn’t have red sauce!?”

There was a hair in my salsa that was brought with chips.

My water tasted like dirt.

I’m not exaggerating or making it up.

I’ve never tasted such a strong dirt after taste from my water before, let alone from a restaurant.

So I asked for tea, it was WAY too sweet… but to be fair - it is Alabama.

When the food arrived he had smothered my 5 year olds burrito with some salsa - apparently he took my question for red sauce on the side for my burrito to mean that I wanted it on hers? She wouldn’t touch it.

So I ate her burrito and gave her mine.

The tortilla was rubbery, and the beans had strange seasoning. Not in a good way.

We left with upset tummies and my daughter said “I feel like my stomach wants to come out” (it made her nauseous).

I had a really bad experience here.

Not to mention the bill for just myself and my child was $35.

I wish I had just handed them money and walked out, would have saved us some stomach upset.

Wouldn’t recommend.

First basket of chips was stale, asked for different chips and they were overcooked and way too crunchy. Salsa was basically water. Not good at all. Wife had a bug floating in her drink. Ordered the Mexican lasagna and it was basically a fajita quesadilla with cheese dip on top for $16. We have been here multiple times in the past and it has always been good, but the quality was terrible tonight.

We have eaten here many times while traveling through the area. Tonight it was spot on! The family helped rate the meal :-)

Side note: The rice is prepared with mixed veggies and can be off putting for those not expecting/desiring those “surprise vegetables”

We ordered street tacos, Juliana Special, chile colorado, burrito verde and cheese dip. Our plates were cleaned!! Excellent quality and great service

Wen't with family for a birthday outing one of the best mexican restaurants in 50 mile radius. If u want great mexican cuisine this a great spot lived the food loved the service might see u there.
