Stara (sp?), the server working alongside Joe around 2:30 p.m. Central Time on November 27, 2024, was exceptional. Her sincerity, friendliness, and professionalism stood out so much that I felt compelled to mention her by name.
As a franchise operations director with nearly 30 years in my own industry, I’m very observant of culture, service, and cleanliness. This Mellow Mushroom location consistently impresses me. Every time I bring my vehicle to Eastern Shore Toyota for servicing—a first-class operation in its own right—I make it a point to stop by for a quick bite.
Today, I enjoyed a half Italian hoagie, chips, and a large Coke for just over $10. It’s a cost-effective and satisfying option compared to most fast-food alternatives, and the quality is consistently superior.
Mellow Mushroom is, in my opinion, an underrated franchise. Its creativity, robust offerings, and commitment to due diligence make it stand out. Jeff Blaze, the director of operations, deserves recognition for maintaining such high standards.
Stara exemplifies the qualities any company would want in a team member. She is calm, efficient, caring, and sincere—a true asset to this establishment.
Lastly, I want to remind everyone that servers don’t set SOPs, control inventory, or dictate recipes, so it’s important to separate food quality concerns from service. Stara’s effort today underscores why we should always appreciate our servers’ hard work.
Kid-friendliness: All of my kids are raised but I know they would have loved the whole theme of the place, the big armored mech outside, the ultra clean restaurant, the colorful and creative menus and the kid friendly dishes.
If your kid can't find something to eat over there then that means they are pickier than any kid I have ever met in my life.

She and I love the Spanish Fort/ Daphne, AL location especially and loved the Hattiesburg, MS location years ago too. Love this franchise.
