I have been eating Penn’s cheeseburgers my entire life. My grandma used to bring me here as a child. Now, anytime I can get to Decatur before they close, I try to stop and get one. The burgers are awesome! You do need to know what you’re getting before you order it, or you might be confused. They serve what is called a “slug” burger. Originally named that because when they opened, the burgers cost a nickel. These burgers are from an era where times were hard, so “fillers”...
So after doing some research I learned their burger recipe was created in 1927, with filler that gives it a soft texture. I didn't know this before going here, so I wasn't a fan of the burger but the fries were good. I would recommend maybe providing a second option besides the original recipe. But I'll give them am A+ for originality.
The service was stellar, the food amazing. If you haven't tried it, do yourself a favor and go now. You will find Stephanie, Paige and Makayla are treasures. Keep up the great job. This place is legendary.
