Char 32 is my favorite restaurant on the Eastern Shore! I eat here every year for my birthday. The Lamb Lollipops are a must, and the Ribeye for Two is one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. Service is always excellent. If you haven’t tried Char 32, you’re missing out!!

They accepted us last minute without reservation and were very cordial. 30 minutes after ordering (medium rare steaks), we received the wrong order, then found out they were out of the steak cut my husband ordered, so he got a different one. Then he received an overcooked steak again the second time. Our potatoes were plain and cold. They also don’t have proper to-go cups for soda… take that as you will. I enjoyed a great accidental filet though!

The Chef at Char is magnificent; Ryan, our server is always the consummate professional, and the menu although principally steak, does offer great fish dishes. I would like to sincerely suggest adding light piano or jazz music to the atmosphere. Light music would set the right mood to match the intimate fine dining experience Char 32 wants to set. Unfortunately, at a recent dining experience, our group of seven was disrupted by rude privileged patrons with no social skills. These rude patrons were incapable of using their inside voices to such an extent our table could barely speak in civil tones to the person sitting next to us. Unfortunately, the Char management did not feel they could politely ask the adjacent table of rude patrons to reduce the level of the speech and laughter. The management allowed the rude patrons to display their disrespect to the entire restaurant. This type of patron behavior chases away more respectful patrons who would enjoy a nice fine dining experience in such a great restaurant setting. Hopefully management will take my suggestion seriously and improve the atmosphere at Char 32. My group goes out several times a month but have not returned to Char in over a year due to the same experience a year ago.

I hope the owner will read this. Along with another couple we were looking forward to a nice pre-Christmas dinner at Char 32 where we have dined numerous times with great pleasure. The evening was ruined by our server Hannah B. Her obviously bad attitude overshadowed the beautiful Christmas decor and generally good food. We asked for Hannah to please repeat the specials for the evening and she rolled her eyes. Her attention was nonexistent after we were served. She returned much later to leave the checks and never even asked if we wanted coffee and desert which we usually order. We also saw Hannah be abrupt with patrons at other tables. If Hannah was having a bad night, she should keep it to herself and politely take care of Char 32 patrons. We are always kind to our server and tip generously. My purpose in writing this critical review is to hopefully prevent ourselves and others from having an unhappy experience with Hannah B. in the future.

Ive been here numerous times since Covid and can never simply stop in to get a cocktail at the bar as was welcomed prior to covid. I am a resident of Point Clear tennis club and have stopped in just for a drink numerous times to unfortunately be told Reservations only! Every time, there has been no one at the Bar! This time was 7:55pm. For some reason, they have never come out of Covid protocols. We’re done trying. It’s odd to see their messaging sign at the entrance as “Please come again”. Really? We DID 4 times just for a drink at an empty bar. I recommend folks avoid this establishment. They are in no way customer focused. Sad! This place is not customer friendly at all! Just plain rude! They gave us the cut throat signal tonight after clearly stating that we wanted a night cap… really thats what you do in Fairhope?? Y'all may want to rethink your policy and think more about your customer service level.

Last night was our first time at Char 32 and it was fabulous! The ribeye and filet mignon were cooked to perfection, great sides and dessert. We will be coming back soon!
My husband and I tried Char 32 for the first time on New Year’s Eve and really enjoyed it, we both had lobster bisque, filet with asparagus and potatoes, all perfectly cooked. I had banana pudding and he had pumpkin pie cheesecake, so delicious! Service was outstanding and atmosphere beautiful. We will definitely be back!
