The food was amazing, as we left the restaurant, we couldn"t stop talking about how we would definitely return. The combination of fantastic food, and great service, and inviting atmosphere made it a standout dinning experience. We even started planning our next visit, eager to try more dishes and share the experience with friends and family. If your looking for a place that offers quality food at an reasonable price, this restaurant is a must-visit!! Thank you Gift Horse Staff!!

My family and I had a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration at The Gift Horse. The service was excellent, there were so many delicious home cooked southern style food options (couldn’t try them all), and several desserts. Will be returning next year!

We are going to make this a family tradition for Thanksgiving!!! It was the best Thanksgiving meal we've had in a restaurant in a long time. Delicious southern cooking, wonderful service, and nice-sized round tables for our family to sit around and converse. The staff truly cares about your experience. The sweet potato casserole was superb as was the dressing and crab bisque and everything else. There is such an assortment of salads and desserts. We're already wanting to go back again and we will! Thank you for such a fantastic experience. We all left full and happy.

Bland food. Poor variety. One dessert, some type of pie. Antique shop overpriced. Cool building to look at, not to be at.

I cant beleive that someone would give this restaurant a one star review and call it a Bate's Motel! She must be a yankee to insult this fine dining restaurant. My family loves eating here! The cheese apples and sweet potatoes are like Thanksgiving dinner! Grape salad and deviled eggs!!! Who doesnt love that little bit of "extra" on a salad bar? Great dessert selection. This buffet has something for everyone and its delicious. We had great service. I love the character and history of an older building!

I am amazed at the 5 star reviews. This was my first and will definitely be my last time at the now coined “Bates Motel”. Our hostess/waitress/cashier was very nice and attentive however, the atmosphere was a bit creepy and confusing. I love historic buildings. The building itself is delightful but the ambience is off. There’s crystal chandeliers and white tablecloths with cloth napkins folded and displayed so neatly. The dinnerware and glasses are plastic and heavy duty stainless silverware. White craft paper over the tablecloth. Now let’s get to the food. It appears as your southern style buffet that your grandmother made. Theres mashed potatoes and gravy, Mac and cheese, green beans, fried chicken and fish. Then you taste it. The Mac tasted like the heat and serve bagged macaroni. Gravy tasted like it was from a jar with a weird twist. Couldn’t eat the salad with my two toppings because my ranch didn’t taste like ranch and it was chunky. Fish wasn’t bad. Husband loved the fried chicken. Green beans were a bit peppery but that was about the extent of flavor. To top it all off, my knife looked like it had already been used. We ate what we could, then paid $46 and change without tip! Fool me once but not again.

The staff is excellent the wait persons are friendly and gives the best service that I have seen in a long time .If you haven't been there you should make an effort go by and try the cheese apples.
