I ate there the other day (12/26/2024) with a friend as we always do when we come to the Gadsden area. I was overcharged for the meal I ordered, then the cashier evidently took it upon herself and added a $tip (which did not show up on the receipt, but showed up when processed through my bank). Plus I had already left a cash tip on the table for the server "Laney". So basically the meal cost me double what the price was on the sign. (Plus the baked beans tasted like they were poured straight out of a can, and barely warm). So no I will not eat there again, nor will I recommend anyone else eat there either.

My family and I visited Hungry Hut after my granddaughters dance recital. There were 10 of us. I had never eaten there before but my son-in-law and daughter had (many times). He is the one who chose where we ate.
*I am not much of a meat eater so I got a vegetable plate. Because my husband (?) is such a good cook, I am very picky about my vegetables. There was a good variety to choose from! I wanted them all! But I finally narrowed the choice to four-mashed potatoes with gravy, baked beans, fried squash and Cole slaw. Every single thing I ordered was delicious!
The dish came with a choice of bread so I chose a cornbread muffin. I wasn't impressed with the muffin but it wasn't horrible. The four vegetable plate was $9.99 and came with a drink (refillable).
My husband got a pork chop dinner with baked beans and potato salad. He got a Mexican corn muffin. His plate was $11.34 and didn't include a drink. His comment on the pork chop was that it was very tender and delicious.
I also tasted the vegetable soup (which was combined with a grilled cheese sandwich) that my granddaughter chose. And the fried mushrooms that my son-in-law chose. Both are delicious.
*The portions were generous and the costs reasonable.
*My only complaint is the untidiness of the place. There was trash here and there on the floor. A used napkin was in the table we sat at. (Yes we could have sat elsewhere but we all wanted to sit in the same area). I used to serve at a restaurant and we were expected to keep the floor and tables clean between customers.
To be fair, we arrived about 5:15 and it was busy. So it could very well be that they had not had time to clean. There didn't seem to be many staff members there.
That being said, we did not have a long wait for our food. (You order and pay at the counter and your food it brought out to you.) The food was hot and fresh.
*They have a senior citizen discount! (Hey, if I gotta grow old, I want all the perks I can get!)
*I will definitely be back to visit when I'm in the area and I will highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for some delicious down home cooking! It's certainly not a fancy place but the taste of the food makes it well worth a visit!

Vegetarian options: Many delicious vegetables to choose from! All the ones I tasted were seasoned well.

This place is not the best, fries are greasy, onion rings are greasy , not to mention they forgot my drinks and fries and I had to go all the way back to get them. I’ve been sick ever since I ate it. Not sure if it is bc of the grease or what.

Kids meal, don’t waste your time your kid probably isn’t gonna eat it bc it’s so GREASY. AND SALTY. won’t be back to this place.
