My recent visit to Acme Oyster left much to be desired. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was great, and unfortunately, the experience declined from there. The service, while not terrible, was just average, lacking the warmth and attentiveness one hopes for in a dining establishment. As for the food, it was a letdown. The fish served was a low-grade Asian catfish called “swai” or “basa”. This fish which can be found on Google of isn’t even a saltwater fish it’s a dirty farmed catfish. A far cry from the quality one expects while being a stones throw from the ocean, especially in a restaurant boasting “seafood” offerings. The shrimp po' boy suffered from subpar bread and shrimp that resembled something I could easily find in a grocery store freezer aisle.Even the jambalaya, a dish one would assume to be a standout in a Louisiana-inspired eatery, was only average, failing to impress with its flavor and authenticity.Overall, Acme Oyster failed to deliver on its promises of quality seafood and Cajun cuisine. With so many other dining options available, I cannot recommend this restaurant to fellow food enthusiasts.

I totally recommend this place for anyone within an hour drive. Or even a longer drive because you won't be disappointed. A touch of Cajun in a seafood restaurant. You can't beat it!

Food quality is outstanding. The grilled oysters are delicious and memorable they're so good. The prickly pear mojito is just as memorable as the food. We were there on Spring Break in 2024 and in 2021 and both times the food was worth the long wait times.Kid-friendliness: There is a kid's menu.

All food, from appetizers on, was good. Gumbo (chicken) was good but would have liked a darker rue. Also not much chicken or sausage of any size. Bloody Mary was really good as was pina colada. Alligator bites very tender and moist. Oysters..both ... were very good. Big platter (for two) was very good. Nice crust. My husband kept the seafood and put the onion rings, fries and hushpuppies on a separate platter for the table. Nice thin crust on onion rings. We've been here several times when in Gulf Shores. Nice large play area for children.

The restaurant wasn’t overly busy. Several open tables, and only 2 occupied tables outside. We requested outdoor seating for our party of 9. We were told we couldn’t have the long table at the end of the porch (seated 10 I believe) due to having to have 2 servers, but we could have 2 of the 4 tops with a chair on the end of one. What kind of sense does that make? So we go out back to wait our 30 minutes. We were sitting outside at one of the MANY unoccupied tables while our children played in the sand. We were then told (rather rudely by a member of management) to move from the table we were watching our children from because it was someone’s section and we were occupying an open table. We were absolutely prepared to move if the table was needed. We understand how that works. However, like I said, there were at least 6-8 open tables on the porch when we were waiting. Within 2-3 minutes of asking us to move, we were seated just two tables down from where we were originally waiting and a table on the other side of the door. We sat down decided to let all that slide. Our server, yes just one, promptly introduced herself and took our drink order and food order a short time later. Service was satisfactory, but nothing to “wow” us. Food came out and to say we were underwhelmed would be an understatement. I personally had the red beans and rice, which had such little flavor that I was upset to waste the calorie intake on that. I can say with confidence that we won’t return. The chargrilled oysters were good and the Long Island tea was well made.Being owners of a steakhouse, we expect the restaurants we visit to have the level of customer service and good food quality we expect from our business and employees. Maybe we should lower our standards…..or maybe this restaurant should raise theirs.

The fish is low quality. The fish is equivalent to catfish for the kids meal and the adults meals. The poboy was a 3/10. Skip for sure. Go to tintop!!!

Everything we have ordered has been great. Nice size portions. Shrimp po boy, NOLA sampler, appetizer tower, Key Lime Pie and Raspberry cheesecake. A nice, relaxing place in Gulf Shores. It does get busy, so allow time.
