While staying in Ft Morgan, we had carry-out from Sassy Bass. My husband had the mahi mahi sandwich and I had the mahi mahi bites. Both were very good. The restaurant was busy when my husband was there for carry-out, but he stated the staff was friendly and maybe slightly stressed.

Sadly, when we arrived, they were out of fresh oysters and the fish of the day. Food was decent, although sauce was a little salty. Beers were cold atmosphere was great. A good option if you're on that end of the island.

I ordered from the bar on 5 pm on October 25th 2025. Worst cheeseburger I have ever had. No flavor in the meat not even salt and pepper. It tasted like frozen meat cooked in a microwave. The cheese tasted like cheap queso and nacho cheese mixed, and was clumpy and caked on, there is no way to eat this with your hands and not get it all over you. Bacon doesn’t make everything better. The bacon cheeseburger was exactly the same. The service at the bar was lackluster, he needs to work on time management skills, it was not a busy day. I ordered my food before 3 other customers and received mine last, after he made several trips back and forth, grabbing condiments that should have been a no brainer. Also refused to help a lady who was asking for a specific football game on the TV, and another lady had to bag her own desserts that was in 4-5 containers. I am a rewards member here and asked if I could pay with cash and use my number, he was so confused he apparently went and told the manger, she came to speak with me as if there was a problem. I just wanted to get points for the order, which didn’t happen. Manager was excellent. I

The service was slow and the food was not good at all. The fried oysters were not done.

It's a fun little spot. We went a couple of times and enjoyed it each time. I had a great conversation with one of their oyster suppliers. He was having dinner there, too. It was nice to see how much they cared about their ingredients.

Drinks where great. But happy hour $7 drinks on the menu turned out to be only 2 of them so an expected $70 bill turned to $125. Menu says one thing then not honored

We came in as a group of four, influenced by the strong overall rating on Google, but ended up regretting it. While older reviews appear glowing, recent ones probably give a far more accurate picture—and based on our visit, they are.

What went wrong:

The food was just mediocre.

Some dishes were over-salted (including the mahi-mahi) while others had virtually no seasoning, so there was no consistent standard.

The grilled snapper was disappointing: it was drowned in a sweet sauce that felt like a camouflage for poor cooking technique.

The mashed potatoes were decent, but the street corn was so bad it felt like it should have been tossed onto the street.

The building and dining room are showing signs of neglect — peeling paint, worn furniture — and the overall maintenance absolutely falls behind what you expect for the price.

It feels like the business is coasting on good reviews from the past and a convenient location rather than offering a strong dining experience today.

Bottom line:
For the price and hype, this place underdelivered. Unless major improvements happen, I can’t recommend it. I hope it can bounce back, but based on our visit, it’s not worth the detour right now.

Used to be a gem of Fort Morgan. But now you’re better off going to Tacky Jacks down the road. Super understaffed and overpriced. Food has gone downhill - very salty. Recently tried to call in a takeout order (three times over a 30 minute period) as a last resort and nobody picked up.

Would suggest to ride further and not eat here.i did like setup of the place.Plan on being here for min of 2 hours after being seated.when food finally came it was so salty it would make your month prune up.And I like salty foods but it was way beyond my standards of salt count.Had to flag waiter down when something was needed but that’s doesn’t bother me esp when they are busy.We had 2 party’s and when we went to pay, they end up getting the same ticket charged on each party’s account.and it was the highest one.We caught on to that and asked to correct it.well that turned into something that I can’t really understand the misunderstanding that they had.Anyways one of us ended up paying the other one for food cause they couldn’t figure out how to charge the right amount to the right person. This is the second time I’ve tried this place, because I like to give second chances before I really review somewhere but neither time was anywhere near a great experience for me and my family. So tacky jacks for now on if we want something close to where we stay when we come down there

Really good lunch! Relaxing atmosphere. Clean, clean, clean. Fresh home cooking. The sweet tea - perfect with lunch. One of my items was a burger which was homemade, not processed. Another was a grilled chicken sandwich which was just right. The homemade fries, perfect. Also, a large selection of seafood dishes. The staff is great.

Short staff , so wait was crazy. That I can deal with.

But the food, was sooo salty. I usually show a lot of grace, and I love food, however , I couldn’t eat it . Appetizers to main course. The breading was inedible.when we mentioned that, the waiter laughed and said drink a beer or some water to flush it out.

Will not be back. Save your money and go to tacky jacks, drive to gulf shores, or heck, ramen noodles would be preferable and less salt.
