7 Best Dive Bars near Homewood

Red Lion Lounge Bar • $
1926 29th Ave S, Homewood

“A real bar with real people. Not quite "Cheers" but plenty of regulars that create a kind of family atmosphere. Drinks are stiff and affordable, the jukebox holds a lot of classics, the decorations are quirky, and guests as well as staff are welcoming and friendly. Not ADA compliment and no one under the age of 21 is admitted. The bar is a little too simple, too worn, and too divy to deserve a 5 star rating but that doesn't mean that you cannot have a 6 star experience at this place“

“We had a pretty good experience at Surf House.

We had the buffalo wings as an appetizer. They were good, but not great. I had the 'spicy' burger, and am still not sure what made it spicier than the other burger on the menu. It was a good burger, but not great. Another person in our party got the turkey burger, and they proclaimed it terrific. Finally, the last person got the regular burger, which, like me, they said was good but not great.

Pretty much everything, from the food to the service to the atmosphere was a solid 7-8 out of 10. We will undoubtedly go back to Surf Hound, but likely won't be rushing back...it is just far enough away. With that said, it should be a hit in the nearby community, and will likely make a dent in CharBar's business.“

“Look I know most of yall drinkers may already know about them but I still need to give Marty's PM some love. I bragged about this place to my guys in Guest Relations at Kami-Con enough to the point a bunch of them including our special guest went there and ate multiple nights. Even got to a point where I heard they did some type of special or something for anyone that showed there Kami-Con badge and I heard they want to do something again for next year. Since it's a bar and I don't drink I probably wouldn't have known about Marty's if it wasn't for my buddy Tony who took me and a few others here.So this past Saturday night I decided to go here because I had not had dinner and was starving it was 11pm and besides fast food I knew this place was open and I was close by and wanted to introduce two of my friends to this place.Marty's PM does not open until 8pm and closes at 5am during that time you can get one of the best burgers you've ever had in Birmingham and is in my top 5 hands down of places to go for a burger. They are always fresh to order and they come in many varieties. What I got was a standard bacon cheese burger and of course was not disappointed. 9.8/10Go check out Marty's at 1813 10th CT. S, Birmingham, AL 35205“
