We arrived just before 11 am to be there when the doors opened for the day. We ordered two meat & three meals. The food came out very quickly. The cornmeal dusted shrimp, spinach w/ chickpeas, parmesan grits cake, fried green tomatoes, and squash casserole were all excellent. The meatloaf is well seasoned but has a lot of filler. Johnny's is my go-to for carry out team lunches. The food is fresh and delicious and the team delivers an accurate order with a smile. This a very popular lunch spot in Homewood but the integrity of the meal and service remain stellar.
We live about an hour away and stumbled across this place a year or so ago for Sunday lunch. It was crowded but the line moved fast and the food was worth the wait. We have been wanting to go back ever since. Last week we were back in Birmingham and it timed out perfectly. We were a little concerned that we had picked 1130 as a bad time.
