Overall the restaurant and my experience was decent for making a to-go order. I realize that this was the original location for Saw's but I was disappointed to know that there were a few items on the menu that I wanted to order and that I had tried at other Saw's locations around Birmingham but they weren't on the menu at this location. The BBQ chicken sandwich was good, the service was fast and the atmosphere was decent because there were only a handful of people there when I visited so that was good for timing.

Little more than I wanted to pay. Needed slaw when I chose beans. Paid extra to complete meal.

I am a BBQ connoisseur, and the BBQ at Saw's is the best I've ever eaten. The pulled pork and brisket are outstanding. Delicious smoky flavor, and if you want to add sauce it's all good. For appetizer, you have to try the fried pork rinds with pimento cheese topped with pepper jelly. The pork rinds are freshly fried and the combination of the pimento and pepper jelly is so good your taste buds will slap you.

Found them based on a tip from a friend. Food was above average and served quickly. The location was fun with a lot of options for food and fun. Staff could have been a bit more outgoing.

I ordered through Uber eats a smoked chicken sandwich. The chicken was so wet With no sauce that the bone was soggy. The white barbecue sauce was great. The chicken was very unseasoned and it was tasted boiled not smoked. There was a bone in my sandwich.

Came from out of state. The first thing I did was look at reviews and ask locals about good bbq. After making the decision to eat at Saw's, I had my next challenge of which one. With different menus, it was hard to choose, but the ribs were the deciding factor for me, so we went to Homewood and boy were they worth it! My family sampled the ribs (great - fall off the bone), pulled pork (great - moist/not dry), chicken (great - loved the white sauce), beans (good), potato salad (great), deviled eggs (ok), Mac n cheese (good) & greens (ok). Overall, very pleased and I would definitely recommend this establishment to anyone that wants to try some great bbq.

Just come try it. Great place, great food, and great service. It is pricey but it is very good. Had the original pulled pork sandwich and the smoked chicken with white sauce. My only complaint is I needed more white sauce on the side. It was a good size piece of chicken and the white sauce was amazing (highly recommend). The sides are also very very good. The service was absolutely excellent. The location is great with a lot of active people in the area. Easily accessible by wheelchair. The inside is very cool. Good place to eat with the family. I will absolutely come again and I highly recommend it.

If you think this is honestly bbq, then that shows why you live in this area, and $37 for a potato and a “boiled chicken” sandwich drenched in bbq sauce for the “bbq “ flavor, absolutely sad that this is even considered a good restaurant.

Take the review as you will coming from someone spoiled by bbq in Austin. This just wasn't it for us. We were a little put off the by the 100 flys in the window when we walked in. For food, we got the large sampler plate and a pork potato. The potato was massive! It could have fed our whole group. The ribs were a little tough on the sampler. The pork was pretty good. The chicken was way too dry. The deviled eggs and potato salad were just ok. The sweet tea unfortunately was not very good.

Worst BBQ in Alabama they covered everything in a sauce and it overpowered the meat. The sauce was too sweet and the greens were from a can and too sweet!

Food was institutional. I had pulled pork, greens, and beans. My home smoked pork butt is 8-10, depending on the butt, beans are 8, greens are 10. Saw’s was disappointing food.

The sausage was very good. The potato salad tasted good, but it was a bit dry. The chicken was good, but the bbq sauce was watery. Overall, it is average food. However, the guy who checked us out and brought us our food was very friendly.

Mmm...I got the sampler plate so that I could taste everything.
The chicken was good to eat but too much of the white sauce made it soggy ish. The pulled pork was absolutely swimming in sauce, and frankly, not much smokey flavor. The ribs were pretty good but dunked in sauce. The atmosphere was perfect, the lady working the front was super friendly.
Sorry... but not what I expected from a local favorite.
