Tried out Vecchia for lunch today. Located in the Moss Rock area of Hoover it was a little out of the way for us, but was recommended by a friend. At first glance, from the outside, I thought that this might be a nice place. Upon entrance I was shuttled down a narrow hallway lined with drinks and wines to a cashiers desk. We placed our order and served ourselves bottled drinks, from a cooler behind us.The prices for a 10 oz pie were $18 so I was hoping for a great find in wood fired pizza for our area.We then went around the corner to a very table cluttered dining area. After noticing that if you asked for water that it was “self serve” from a high school style water fountain in plastic cups. No wait staff roomed the area, only the cashier and the two cooks. When the pizza arrived it was fresh out of the wood fired oven. Nice char in spots but the bottom was still a little under cooked. I ordered the classic pepperoni but had to search to find said toppings. Scarce and unevenly distributed. Then came the bite; the tip of my slice was soggy and limp. No crunch. The bone was nice and crisp with good flavor. The red tomato sauce was bland at best, no spices, I ended up adding salt to my slice to help the flavor. Cheese was thin but nice flavor and pull.I looked for Parmesan, but had to go to the water fountain to find the powdered cheese shaker. (No fresh Parmesan available)Nothing was on the tables but a beer bucket with plastic utensils and off brand napkins. For what was told to me was a true Italian pizzeria I was disappointed. Pizza wasn’t bad but could have been so much better with somespices and flavor. And charging these prices I would expect some wait staff and fountain drinks. (Ditch the high school water fountain).Establishment was clean and staff was nice. Food was OK, maybe even good had it been a lower price point. But Vecchie has some loyal followers and it was busy for that time of day, so others must enjoy it.Overall 3.5 stars!

Great atmosphere. Really nice staff. The fired pizza oven is amazing, which makes the food oh so good. It's a quaint area. Plenty of seating, indoors, and out. We love this place.

Not only does the food and atmosphere deserve an 10/10, but the owners and the staff deserve it as well. I hosted a birthday dinner here for 40 people a few weeks ago. It all went so smooth and everyone loved the cozy feel and openness of the restaurant. Organizing the event with Brianna was so easy and she knew what I needed before I even did. I’ve worked in the restaurant industry for 10+ years and I will always admire an owner like Benard and Brianna that work alongside their staff to make sure their customers are happy. Drinks, food, service, everything was perfect. Grazie amici

What a fun place to learn about Italian culture and eat authentic Italian food. The meatballs were so good. We did the cooking with culture class, and it was so yummy! Will definitely go back to eat some pizzas soon!

Food was fantastic, really good and made up for a lot. While the people here were nice enough, they weren't very helpful. The heaters did next to nothing to help the cold patio since the dining room was closed even though there was plenty of space.

My family wento to Vecchia for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. The restaurant was not busy and smelled delicious when we walked in. I loved all the outdoor seating options, but it was still a little too chilly in the shade so we sat in the dining room. I ordered the fettuccini with sausage, my husband got a cheese pizza, and my daughter got a kids' pepperoni. My food came out very quickly. I tried to wait until my family got their food to eat, but the wait stretched longer, and I had to start eating before it got cold. The Alfredo sauce was ok. Very standard pasta dish. Unfortunately, I was done eating before the pizzas were served. I'd have preferred my food to be cooked and served closer to when their food was done so we could have eaten at the same time. My family enjoyed their pizzas- my daughter liking it more than my husband. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience. The staff was really nice, though, so that was a definite plus.

I really enjoyed eating at Vecchia. I ordered the Capriccosa pizza, my favorite thing about their pizza's is how their dough is not super crunch and not super soggy, it is the perfect consistency of dough. I sat outside because the weather was nice, which was very enjoyable. However, their service was not the best. They were a bit rude when they were taking our order and were not very attentive while we ate and when we asked for something, they seemed annoyed that we were even asking for something. I would definitely go back for the food, but they could do better in regard to how they treat their clientele.

My family and I went to Vecchia Pizzeria and we were blown away! The variety of pizzas on offer was impressive and the crust was crispy and delicious. The restaurant had a charming Italian vibe, and the prices were reasonable for the quality of food.

Vecchia has pretty decent food and has great ambiance for a fun, relaxing meal. But the fun stops there as their service is non-existent. They post signs in several places reminding you that "tips are appreciated" but they 100% ignore your existence after the meal is paid for and the food is dropped at your table. Even asking for water now involves directing you around the corner to some plastic cups and a bottle refilling station with no ice. Yes, you must go back to the cashier and ask for ice for your tiny little water cups. We asked for butter. No. We asked for salt, pepper and Parmesan. We had to go locate it. We asked for a side salad with an entree. No, can't do that for that entree. No long linguine either for any meal. It's an Italian resturant! But if you're willing to eat decent food at an embellished picnic site, then this is the place for you.
