I grew up on the East Coast near the beach, where fresh seafood was part of everyday life. I’m used to buying fish that was caught that very morning and cut fresh in front of you at the local fish market. Naturally, I had high hopes for this place.
Unfortunately, Andy’s Seafood Market feels more like a replica than the real deal. I understand we’re in Alabama, and expectations should be tempered, but I’ve given this spot two chances now, and both times the seafood tasted anything but fresh. It’s clear that much of it comes out of a bag or is bulk-bought, thawed, and then placed on ice to mimic the look of fresh fish.
To be honest, I’ve found grocery store seafood to be fresher and more reasonably priced. For the quality offered here, the prices are surprisingly high. If you’re used to truly fresh seafood, this place may leave you disappointed.
A little out of the way for me but worth it. I visited recently to grab soft shell crab, crab legs, and see what other options they had and scope out the prices.
They have tons of seasoning options and sauces for seafood prep. They have a freezer full of octopus, hush puppies, shrimp, etc. but they also have fresh shrimp, cod, red snapper, crab legs, and catfish. When I got there they appeared to be sold out of cod, but maybe they keep some frozen in the back??? I didn’t ask but it’s worth calling before you come to make sure they have what you are looking for.
The only thing keeping me from 5 stars was the staff. The two young ladies behind the counter seemed annoyed that I was taking my time to decide what I wanted based on the options that were remaining (there was no one else in the store). Even as I was paying and said thank you, they both just stared lol. Idk….I’ll still swing by for crab legs and red snapper though!
A wonderful little seafood market with great fresh and frozen selections, and friendly service.
Super fresh seafood, friendly staff
I ordered 2 Ibs of just crawfish with Old Bay season and 4 eggs. The eggs were good, but the crawfish was supreme grainy and tastes awful. Will not be buying there again.
Customer service was great and I really like their food

The potatoes and corn in the bags could be seasoned some but other than that everything was food. Just add some flavor to the items.
The low country boil never disappoints!
Crawfish was so dry it was hard to peel. It was also previously frozen. They were also still cold in the middle so I attempted to heat them up again myself. I ordered 5lbs and ate a couple and it was so unbearable I tossed the rest.
Good in a pinch, didn't have a lot of fresh (not cooked) to choose from.
If you have never gotten seafood to go here, you are missing out. They have a menu they will cook from and have a great variety of seafood seasonings to purchase. Great little hole in the wall.
