I confirmed curbside and waited in the appropriate spot. No one showed up.
I went to drive thru to get someone's attention. They offered I pick up in the original curbside spot.
I ordered the wild, blackened salmon. I got the farm-raised, whitened salmon. Fries stale and dry.
I'll keep on the hunt to find a good salmon shop in HSV.

Captain D’s has unfortunately fallen far from what it once was. I’m not sure if it’s because my tastes have developed over the years, or if the restaurant has genuinely reduced its quality standards, but the difference is clear. This used to be the place for a quick, reliable fried fish meal—a solid alternative to cooking at home or going to a sit-down restaurant. Now, however, I honestly couldn’t recommend Captain D’s to anyone based on my recent experience.
We decided to place a to-go order, thinking it would be a convenient and familiar option. While we waited for the food, I went inside to use the restroom, and that’s when I realized something had gone seriously downhill. The restaurant’s cleanliness was appalling. Trash bins were overflowing, and the floors and counters looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in some time. Every corner seemed neglected, with visible dirt and clutter. It was a sad sight for a place that once had a dependable reputation, and it set an uncomfortable tone for the meal.
Despite the unpleasant surroundings, we were hoping the food itself would make up for it. When we received our order, the food was hot, but somehow it still tasted stale and off. Both of us regretted our decision almost immediately after eating—it left our stomachs unsettled, making us wish we’d chosen any other option. For my meal, I ordered the fried fish and chicken combo with sides of macaroni and cheese and fries. Unfortunately, every single item was disappointing. The fish and chicken lacked flavor and freshness, the macaroni and cheese was bland and mushy, and even the fries felt like an afterthought. The most impressive part of the meal was the packaging, and that’s saying something.
Captain D’s used to be a reliable go-to for fast, tasty fried fish, but at this point, it’s hard to recognize what it once was. I wouldn’t consider returning unless they underwent a complete 180 in terms of both restaurant cleanliness and food quality. Their standards have dropped significantly, and it’s clear that either management has changed or the chain as a whole has chosen to cut corners. For now, I absolutely would not recommend this location—or even Captain D’s in general—to anyone looking for a decent meal. Until they make serious changes, this is not the place to satisfy a craving for fried fish or seafood.

Food IA always fresh. The lady manager is always pleasant and on point, whether at the register,making the food what ever. The staff is great. I actually enjoy coming so 99% of the time I come in to get my food to go. Great job!!!

You know when you go to other fast food places and they don't change the grease out, so the food has this disgusting after taste after a while? Well, when my bf asked me if I wanted Captain D's, I had to prepare myself because I just KNEW that's what it was going to taste like. Excuse me, Captain D's.....Let me go ahead and apologize and say yesssssss!! When I tell you that country fried fish was cooked to perfection!!! And when did the new batter come out for the chicken?? Listen, I'm not only a google reviewer, but I review other companies as well, and when I say that is the best chicken tender I have ever eaten, that is no lie! I'm not from here, I actually just moved here a few months ago, and where I'm from Captain D's is horrible now. The staff and food were great during my visit, which was refreshing considering that's not what you usually get from other establishments.
The only downside, which wasn't the staff on duties fault, were they were out of several sauces and lemons. For me, my food, no matter what, is not exceptional because the Sweet & Sour is a main staple of the flavor profile. No one has a sweet & and sour close to yours. Otherwise, it would have been a 5-star review.
